Google is constructing a list of banned words for its Chinese release

I wanted to start this news with my typical O tempora o mores, but… seeing as things are going worldwide, perhaps this news is not as horrible as it would be some time ago. Much has been said about the Google-China conflict; communist country wanted the american company to deliver them a properly censored browser, while Google did not. Past tense is right in place, too; as it seems, Google has given in to temptation and is now creating a censored wersion of its browser specifically for China. Censorship will ban citizens of China from reading about anything that their government does ...

An elegant emojis for more civilized times

New emojis incoming! The Unicode Consortium is currently composing the list of emojis it will add to Unicode 12 in 2019. Today, Emojipedia has released some information on those upcoming emoticons. New emojis will be a varied bunch, some among them depicting mixed race and gender couples, people with disabilities, axes (huh), flamingos, prophet’s eye (again, huh) and much more. Few proposals for 2020 emojis were also made, like a screwdriver or magic wand. Tweet Vote on ...

UE once again wants to standardise chargers

European Union plans on reducing the number of electronic waste produced – better late than never, since the business is estimated to produce 51 tons of electronic trash per year. One of the steps that the Union wants to take in order to reach this goal is standardising smartphone’s chargers. UE wants all the smartphones to use the USB-C standard. There is a long way for this to happen, though; many lesser models are still using the microUSB plug-in, while Apple is adamant about keeping to its Lightning plug-in. EU wants to combat this by a mix of new laws and, if needed, ...

It is a leghty process that requires meddling in the phone’s settings, difficult game installation, search for proper ports and keyboard adapters… all of this just so that you can show your friends how retro you are. Android 9 Pie!

It is not Pistachio after all! Google has officially unveiled its newest operating system, Android 9, to the world. Event has shared much information about the OS, ”most importantly” its name. It turns out that Android 9 P will be called Pie, as in apple pie or cherry pie. Mmm, cherry pie… Anyway, Android Pie is already available for the very first smartphones: Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL and, last but not least, Essential Phone. The new OS will be downloaded automatically, with no need for manual control over the process (sounds spooky when I put ...

Life is Strange 2 has its first teaser trailer!

Woohoo! LiS is really getting a sequel! Adventure game from 2015 (though an interactive story is perhaps a more fitting name), Life is Strange is an adult, well-crafted game that impressed the players with a story about a complicated life of a teenage girl with superpowers – and it is much better than it sounds, trust me. The multi-layered story has left us wanting more, and although both the Before the Storm expansion as well as a standalone Adventures of Captain Spirit were good, the second main course is still before us.Game’s teaser trailer can be watched here, ...
