US HTC U11 receives a large update

This one is a biggie! Weighing 737.5 megabytes, software update 2.42.617.1… has a suspiciously small changelog. All we are seemingly getting in it are the December Android Security patch and some unspecified system enhancements. There must be more to this update than meets the eye, but so far we do not know what could it be. We will let you know when we learn more.Anyway, the update is available over the air, but it may be some time before it reaches your region. Remember to make sure that your phone is charged and connected to wi-fi before downloading it! ...

HTC U12 render surfaces – what is new?

The render, coming from an unknown source, is in no way official, so take it with a grain of salt. It depicts the front side of U12 with very thin bezels. Since there is no room for fingerprint scanner on the front, it can be assumed it will be placed on the rear of the device. That is all. Other rumours, unrelated to this render, promise that U12 will come packing a 4K display and dual camera setup; some even say that there will be no fingerprint scanner at all. ...

HTC and Motorola do not slow down their phones performance like Apple does. Pinky promise

Two of the largest Android phone producers, HTC and Motorola, have vehemently stated that they do NOT, repeat, do NOT slow down their phones’ processors when their batteries get old. Apple’s coming out (more like being made to come out) has put other manufacturers into a state of mild panick, making everyone to stand up, raise their hand and proclamate that they do not do that thing that evil Apple does, no sir, never ever. HTC and Motorola are the first large smartphone producers to do so; Samsung, Google and LG are believed to follow suit soon.Heh. Great. ...

Kim Jong-Un uses a HTC phone, in case you care

Personally I would rather he spoke through a banana, but okay. According to a picture captured by the intelligence agencies (do not ask me which agency exacly, I do not know), the beloved leader of the greatest country in the world is using what seems to be an outdated model of HTC smartphone, possibly clad in a case – better safe than sorry, right? As soon as the picture leaked online, Samsung denied that it is its smartphone; it most probably is not an iPhone because Evil America. That leaves, according to people better versed at smartphone models than I am, HTC.Makes me wonder how ...

HTC U11 Life in Brilliant Black leaked

HTC U11 Life will be released this week as part of Android One initiative, and yet we get to be slightly surprised by it for one last time. Roland Quandt, one of the more famous leaksters online, has just released a press render of the device in an elegant Brilliant Black colour variant. Mr Quandt’s findings are usually legitimate, so more likely than not this is the real deal. HTC U11 may soon be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo

That is what @LlabTooFeR, one of the more well-known smartphone leaksters, claims. He believes that the update is reaching last stages of development as we speak, and should roll out by the end of November/early December. Upgrade to Oreo would be a huge deal, since U11 has been running on 7.1 Nougat since day 1. There are plans to upgrade HTC 10 and U Ultra as well, but we have no details on that.On the side note, on November 2nd HTC will reveal two variants of the U11, U11 Plus and Lite, with Lite being rumoured to come out with stock Android 8.0. ...
