HTC’s tough times continue as the company lays off 1500 employees

Poor souls in question are… have all been working in HTC’s manufacturing division in Taiwan. Laying them off lowers HTC’s employee count by roughly 22%. Official word from the company is that the layoff has been done in order to once more become profitable. This is only the last in a long chain of HTC’s misfortunes. It all begun in February, when then-president of the company left to pursue a ”personal career plan”. Soon afterwards a hundred US employees of the company have been released as part of a merger of the smartphone and VR divisions. Speaking of ...

Four colours of HTC U12 Plus

Hurray, Roland Quandt lives and keeps on leaking. Our second most favourite leakster has just Twittered that HTC will release four colour variants of its upcoming U12 Plus smartphone. There will be classic black, red and violet colours as well as a half-transparent one. Cool, right? Unfortunately, Quandt believes that U12 Plus will be a pretty expensive smartphone. According to him, it will cost something around 950 – 1000 dollars. That is quite a bit. Whether or not the device will be worth it is up to you. Personally I think its specs do its price at least a partly justice:– ...

Big fishes of the smartphone world believe that it must be the U12+ though, so who am I to argue.Known specs of the phone include Snapdragon 845 CPU, 6GB RAM, 128GB flash memory and a USB-C port. ...

HTC lied in its U11 ad and United Kingdom banned said add

The story goes as follows: HTC has been promoting its U11 smartphone in the UK since mid-2017. Its advertisement, like advertisements do, promoted and highlited phone’s main features. Ad showed British Olympic diver Tom Daley use his HTC U11 at the swimming pool, taking selfies, using phone’s squeezable sides, all the good stuff. Important detail of the ad was that Mr. Daley was using his phone as he was going out of the pool. This was when UK’s Advertising Standards Authority came in, stating that element of the ad is misleading. HTC responded by, well, tucking its ...

Leaked renders of HTC U12

HTC U12, which may or may not be released as U12+, is planned to be released in early May. Near release date does not, of course, mean that we cannot feel free to grab at any bits of gossip regarding it. One such bit has just leaked in form of a few renders of the phone. These renders seem largely similiar to the older pictures of U12. They confirm dual camera setup and rear fingerprint scanner features, as well as lack of notch.HTC U12’s known specification includes Snapdragon 845 CPU, 6GB RAM and 64/128GB flash memory. ...
