More MWC 2019 news – Sony Xperia 1

Sony keeps on working hard. The Japanese company has just revealed its newest mid-high ranger, Xperia 1. The phone’s somewhat odd name – One? First? – is a means by which Sony wants to ”open a new chapter in its mobile history”. You are allowed to interpet it as ”our naming convention got so convoluted that we really needed a fresh start, no matter how dumb it may look”. Okay, okay, so the phone’s name is new. What else is new? Quite a bit:– 6,5′ OLED CinemaWide display, 21:9, 1644 x 3840 p,– Snapdragon 855 CPU, Adreno 640 ...

Sony resets its smartphones’ naming conventions

It looks like Sony wants to shake things up, at least a little. The company is changing names for its two series: the upcoming Xperii XA will be called Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus, while the soon-to-be-released Xperia XZ4 will do so under a somewhat mind-boggling name Xperia 1 (flashbacks from Battlefield 1 being the FOURTH GAME in the series). The number 1 in the name is supposed to suggest that the device will be all fresh and new and sparkling. Will it, though? Some of the more interesting parts of Xperia 1’s specs are rumoured to be the 21:9 aspect ratio display, separate screen ...

Sony wants you to buy a walkman. Why? Because video game

Buy an expensive and pointless device because it has a logo of a video game you probably have not played anyway, Sony said; and that is why we now have the NW-A55 Series A Sony Walkman on the market. What will the 260 dollars that it costs get us? A walkman that plays mp3 files, with 16GB of space, box with the logo of Kingdom Hearts 3 and… that is all. There are also wireless headphones that cost 220 dollars – both products are, imho, pointless. ...

Render and specs of Sony Xperia XA3

Both renders and some of the specs of Sony’s new mid-ranger have leaked online: the former looks as presented above, and has been published online by Winfuture.de. Renders show us a device with a 6.5′ Cinemadisplay, err, display with 21:9 proportions as well as a dual camera setup. There is no rear-mounted fingerprint scanner to be seen, so there is probably one built into the device’s display. The rest of the smartphone’s specs will be more or less such:– 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 CPU,– GPU Adreno 512,– 4GB RAM, 64GB memory space, microSD card ...
