Massive MyFitnessPal data breach, 150 million user accounts accessed

It was announced yesterday that MyFitnessPal, popular iOS health and fitness application, has become the victim of a large-scale hacker attack. Roughly 150 million user accounts have been compromised, with their data becoming accessible to the hacker. Emails, passwords and usernames of the MyFitnessPal users are now free for the taking for whoever committed the breach. Driver license numbers, social security numbers and credit card information were, thankfully, not accessed. The breach itself reportedly took place in late February – good job on catching up fast there. Under Armour, ...

iOS 11.4, first rumours

iOS 12 is to come out in a few months but that does not mean we cannot talk about 11.4, its small and, presumably, relatively insignificant predecessor. Unfortunately there is pretty much no info on the upcoming update. Personally I believe that it will not do much – fix a few issues, maybe add a new function (support for AirPlay 2, maybe?), that is all. Large changes are probably being saved for iOS 12.iOS 11.4 is to be released somewhere around June. For now we are still waiting for, being beta-tested as we speak, iOS ...

Dead man calling, or US police officers are using deceased persons’ fingerprints to unlock iPhones

According to Forbes and its, allegedly close to the FBI, sources, American cops are repeatedly using fingerprints of dead iPhone owners to unlock their phones. It is said that the police often does it in order to enter an OD victi’s phone, which supposedly often leads to their dealer. Marina Medvin, owner of Medvin Law, said that such action is completely in line of the US law; person’s dead body has no ”privacy interest” and therefore not even a warrant is neccessary in order to access the deceased person’s phone. The only time when a police may need a warrant ...

China, the land of white-gloved oppression and limited Internet, is famous for its iPhone knockoffs. Pokemon Go will not be supported by older iPhone models

A sad reminder for you Pokemon-playing, old iPhone-using folks; starting February 28th, Pokemon Go will no longer be supported by iPhones unable to run iOS 11. This include iPhone 5 and older, with the exception of iPhone 5s that will probably be able to support the game. Please remember that it will not be neccessary to have iOS 11 installed to play the game; as long as your iPhone can run iOS 11, it can run Pokemon Go too.I am afraid that, if you want to catch them all, you have to upgrade to a newer iPhone. I am sure that people at Apple are as sad as I ...

Will It Blend? iPhone X. Good watch

I find myself in a difficult position. Here I am, about to show you a video of a man blending an iPhone X. I feel as if I should do my duty as a redactor and write a lenghty and informative opening about how vulnerable smartphones are, why is that and what can be done to make them more durable. But then I think about how I am stopping you from seeing a guy putting an iPhone X inside a blender and seeing what happens. Feeling as if I have no right to deny you this quality entertainment any further, I reset my case and humbly present to you the ...

Verizon will stop selling unlocked iPhones

According to CNET, Verizon wants to stop selling unlocked iPhones in order to, quote, deter criminals from stealing the devices. Starting this summer, all Verizon phones will remain locked to the network until unlocked by Verizon, a process which will possibly take a long time to complete. This new policy is, at least officially, aimed towards preventing thieves from stealing unlocked phones and then reselling them. We have yet to learn how will Verizon’s new unlocking policy ...
