Y5 2017 is yet another device in Huawei’s portfolio of budget phones. Weird Microsoft patent, or an e-paper display
(The above picture does not depict the device mentioned below)Microsoft does a lot of patents lately, does it not? Last week, Redmond company has patented a new kind of display hinge; today is the time for a double display device (Triple D?). One side of said display is to be a normal screen depicting what is going on in the device; the other side is to be be for keyboard and other control buttons. Patent describes the e-paper as touch sensitive and changeable. It could even be used as part of the device’s case. Some people believe that the patent is to be used in the mysterious ...
Android 7.1.2 hits Pixel and some Nexus phones
Android 7.1.2 OS has already been available for some time, though only Google smartphones. Now, the update is slowly trickling its way to other devices: Pixel, Pixel C, Pixel XL, as well as Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus Player are now running the newest Nougat. Android was never quick about updating its phones’ operating systems, so I guess the owners of other Android devices will have to wait a while longer for their turn. Sorry. One might wonder if the 7.1.2 update is particulary worth the wait, and the answer would probably be that no, it is not. 7.1.2 is a small update that only ...
Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus with 6GB RAM will only be available in China? Good news. It is damn expensive anyway
According to Etnews, a Korean news website, 1,155,000 krw, or around $1026, is how much Chinese Samsung lovers have to pay if they want to get themselves a shiny, new, 6GB RAM-packing Galaxy S8. China’s Galaxy S8 will also have increased memory space, 128GB instead of 64GB. Curiously, the only colour version available there (at least so far) is Midnight Black. Why? I dunno. Chinese pre-orders of the phone will come with the addition of Samsung DeX dock instead; Western pre-orders, as we know, are adding a free Gear VR instead.6GB of RAM on a smartphone is, well, debatable. Do you ...

Android tops Windows as the most popular OS for web surfing
Ladies and gentleman, it is now official – more people are using their smartphones than PCs for web browsing. I know that the title of the news is ”Android over Windows”, not ”smartphones over PCs”, but that means pretty much the same thing. Ever since mid-2015, the trend has risen in which more people were browsing the Internet on their mobile devices than on their computers. Since Android is the most popular operating system for smartphones and many other mobiles, it means that more and more often Android was the OS used to browse the net, not Windows. O ...
OnePlus charges people like batteries, or OnePlus Dash Charge energy drink
Thanks to OnePlus (as well as a few other companies) we can now charge our phones in a jiffy, thanks to the Quick Charge technology. It’s good to have a full battery in your smartphone, but it is just as important (some people will argue) to be fully charged yourself. OnePlus’ marketing specialists must have had the same idea and so OnePlus Dash Charge, an energy drink, came to life. Oh, but don’t worry, buying it won’t be as easy as just going to your nearest convenience store. Dash Charge will be sold in limited numbers and only in chosen stores around the world ...
Do you think that you may be addicted to your smartphone? This prosthetic phone will help you – or just make you look ridiculous
An initiative called Give Your Mobile The Boot has been started in Great Britain. The goal is to make car drivers realize, that using their smartphones while driving is dangerous and to encourage them to put their mobiles into the car’s trunk (or boot, though I’ve never heard car’s trunk being called that before. Hm) to avoid the temptation of picking it up while on the road. MORE TH>N, a direct financial services firm, has developed the prosthetic phone as a part of this campaign. What is it? Well… it is a smartphone-shaped box of plastic. According to research made ...
Alleged renders of HTC U/Ocean have leaked
What do they tell us? It looks like the device will have quite thin bezels, that’s for one. There is also a type C USB port there on the bottom, right between the dual speakers. No Power button is to be seen, as well as volume controls and fingerprint scanner. This means that these buttons may be embedded into the phone’s screen, which is a pretty fresh thing to do.Unless we will receive more information on the device in form of leaks, we will learn more by the end of the month, when it is supposed to be unveiled. Here is the device’s specification from an earlier ...
Nokia 9 specs leaked!
Kudos to NokiaPowerUser for obtaining this leak. Hopefully no one had to do anything too nasty to get it… Phone’s specification is listed below.
