Nearly an year ago, in January 2018, Italy government begun its investigation of Samsung and Apple’s antitrust violations. Investigation when Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM for short) discovered that both companies have intentionally updated its devices in Italy (and other countries as well, at least in case of Apple’s infamous battery and Samsung’s Note 4 updates) with performance-throttling software, with their goal being to incentivize users to buy newer devices. These actions have been found in violation of a number of Italy’s ...

Oh my, I did not see this coming – Motorola now sells branded repair tools for its smartphones
It is nice to write about something positive every now and then. Motorola has entered into a partnership with iFixit. The fruits of this partnership are first in the world official, Motorola-branded tools for repairing Motorola smartphones by their owners. Every such package includes tools for interchanging displays, batteries and digitizers (digitizer is a thin layer of a special material that allows toushcreens to actually respond to touch). Every Motorola smartphone requires its own package – right now tools can be bought for Moto X, Moto Z, G4, Moto G5 i Droid Turbo 2. Their ...

It took them a while, but they have finally done it. Facebook has announced that part of its grand Messenger redesign project, which it dubs Messenger 4, will include adding an optional Dark Mode to the communicator. Hooray for not being blinded by the white background anymore! Sadly, FB decided not to share any other details on the mode, saying that they will, quote, ”be back with more soon”.One of the other changes in Messenger 4 will be putting some of its tabs into a single ”Discover” tab so that we can continue to ignore them. ...

Sorry, Americans, but Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will not be sold in the US
New Huawei Mate can be good phones, but Americans will not have the chance to try them out – at least not if they only buy in their country. According to the statement made by a Huawei spokesperson in Business Insider, Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will not be sold in the USA. They can be imported, but not cheaply, as Mate 20 will cost €899 and Mate 20 Pro’s price is €1049. Reason for it is, of course, famous ban that the United States of American have put on Huawei and ZTE due to allegedly violating the US sanctions on Iran as well as, also allegedly, conducting spying ...
”Beautygate” or First World Problems or how iPhone Xs takes too good selfies
People and their problems nowadays… It looks like iPhones Xs and Xs Max are making people happy whether they want it or not. Not only there is no option to turn off Depth Control, feature that controls background softening in autoportrait mode, but their 7mpx smartphones automatically, without our consent nor knowledge, even out our face’s imperfections. Cool, I guess. Apple recognizes the issue (sarcasm aside, not having control over your own phone is definitely an issue) and promises that the upcoming iOS 12.1 update will fix it. Personally I wonder whether it is actually a ...

How Android smartphones will cost more because of EU
Or Google, depending on how you look at it. Long story short, EU has punished Google with a 4.3 billion fine due to Google making monopolistic attempts at the market. Now, few months after that revelation, Google announced that after 1th of February 2019 it will begin to collect Android license fees from smartphone producers. How high those fees will be will depend on both the size of the phone’s display (why?) as well as the country it is being made in – the fee’s size can fluctuate between 2.5 and 40 dollars. We do not know how exacly will the fees influence ...
