The U.S. International Trade Commission has decided to review a decision made by a judge in October that cleared Apple of violating four of HTC’s smartphone patents. The ITC is going to revisit one of the four patents, which pertains to “technology for looking up and quickly dialing phone numbers and different techniques for managing power consumption on portable electronic devices.” HTC appealed the October ruling and the ITC has agreed to reexamine the judge’s decision. ITC Says HTC Violated Apple Patents

The U.S. International Trade Commission today ruled that HTC has violated a 1999 Apple smartphone patent pertaining to how computers talk to one another The ITC ordered that HTC be banned from importing some of its products, though the ban will not commence until April 19. HTC will be allowed to import refurbished products to meet repair claims, but no new products will be allowed to enter the U.S. once ban begins. HTC Unfazed By ITC Ruling

HTC called Monday’s ruling by the U.S. International Trade Commission a “victory,” despite the fact that the ITC found HTC guilty of violating a smartphone patent held by Apple.
