HTC recently announced that the bootloader unlock tool that allows users to load custom versions of the Android operating system on their devices is now available for more smartphones in the HTC family. Kodak Fires More Patent Lawsuits at Apple and HTC

Eastman Kodak today filed new lawsuits against Apple and HTC regarding digital imaging patents. Kodak alleges that Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod, and some of HTC’s smartphones and tablets infringe Kodak patents that relate to technology for transmitting images. Kodak also believes HTC is infringing on a separate patent related to previewing images on digital devices. Kodak filed complaints with the U.S. International Trade Commission as well as in U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York. The 3G-equipped version of the HTC Flyer tablet and the 4G-ready variant known as the EVO View 4G sold on Sprint may have been upgraded to Android 3.2 Honeycomb already, but now the Wi-Fi-only version of the 7-inch tablet is getting in on the action. HTC Releases Bootloader Unlock Tool for More Devices

HTC has made the tools available on its developer web site that will allow users of HTC Android devices to unlock the bootloader of their phones. Earlier this year, HTC committed to providing such tools to its Android users and has slowly been making good on that promise. “All HTC Android devices launched after September 2011 are unlockable. HTC has announced that the tool that it provides to unlock the bootloaders of its Android smartphones has been updated to work with all models released after September 2011. This means that owners of the HTC Vivid, Rezound, and other recent models can now unlock their bootloaders and load custom software on the devices.
