YouTube plans on giving up 30-seconds long ads. Yaaaay!

YouTube seems to be caving in to popular demand of removing the long ads that appear at the beginning and, sometimes, during the YouTube videos. Popular video website has announced that by 2018 it will resign from putting advertisements of this lenght into their videos (it is unknown whether this means complete removal of ads or just lenghty ones). Officially, YouTube wants to ”focus on developing better advertisement solutions ”. What exacly will change? How will these changes influence both YouTube users and clients? We shall see.Sim-unlock.net is a system that offers ...

Bad smell sensor, or Yeah, It Is Japanese Again

First World has a large number of problems, and bad smell is one of them. No ones likes to enter the bus after a day at work/workout at the gym/spending a day with a boy/girlfriend with knowledge of being dirty, sweaty and probably starting to smell. Do not worry, though! Japanese have come up with a device that… well, that will not help you in any way other than letting you know that, indeed, you do smell. Device’s name is KunKun, and it is an invention of one Hiroshi Akiyamy, 43-years old engineer working for the Japanese company named Konica Minolta. KunKun is a pocket sensor ...

To the rescue of fools, or street signaling for phone zombies

Do you often walk around with your face in your smartphone’s screen, never looking before or around you? Do you look up from your mobile when crossing the street, or do you consider it a waste of time? If so, then you probably deserve being hit by a truck… though authorities in the Denmark town of Bodegraven seem to have a different opinion than mine. The officials there decided that, rather than to let the gene pool rid itself of a handful of idiots, they would instead making traveling on foot easier for them with an enhanced street signaling. I have to admit that the dutchmen ...

What to do when your phone catches on fire

Generally speaking, technology is made to be safe. No producer in the world wants their product to explode in its user’s face, if not because of their good heart then because things like that usually make the sales drop bigtime. Still, electronics are complicated devices, and smartphones are not an exception. Being a relatively rare occurence, smartphones catching on fire became a thing a few months ago, during the infamous Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco (long story short, a whole line of phones turned out to be prone to exploding, with quite a number of people getting burns and/or ...

Turkish hacker sentenced to eight years in an US prison (plus morel afterwards)

Ercan Findikoglu is a Turkish hacker and an ex-leader of the group of hackers responsible for multiple attacks on the banks world-wide in 2011-2013. The group’s largest attack had them steal $40 million dollars. Findikoglu (what a mouthful…), who has spent last three years in a German prison, has now been moved to the USA jail, where he will spend another eight years, AFTER which he will be sentenced for another twenty years in Turkish prison. Wow. Moral of the story? Do not steal, or you will spend half of your life in jail.Sim-unlock.net is a system that offers unlocking sim ...

Taxi drones, or first passenger-taking drones will debut in Dubai

EHang 184, for that is its name, is a taxi-drone. Chinese-made vehicle has first been presented during last year’s CES in Last Vegas. Now, a number of them has been commissioned by Burj al-Arab, one of the most luxurious hotels in Dubai, as a personnal transport for its guests. Drone trips will not be a family thing, unfortunately, as drone can carry only 100 kilograms of weight. It will definitely be faster than dragging on foot or by car, like the rest of us peons – drone will be flying with a speed of 100 km/h (its max speed is 160 km/h, but it was deemed too dangerous). ...

How to safely buy an used phone

Smartphones are not cheap. Depending on the model you desire, you might have to spend hundreds of dollars (even thousands, if you are particulary picky). With such high prices, it is no wonder that sometimes we find ourselves searching for a more cost-efficient way of obtaining one. One of them (pretty much the only one if you do not want to mug people) is to buy an used mobile device – you’ll always save a couple (dozen/tens/hundred) bucks, right? Of course, but remember that homo homini lupus est, so there is a chance you will get, wittingly or not, ripped off when you buy ...

New features coming to Pokemon Go – PvP and pokemon trade

(Am I the only one who thinks that ”pokemon trade” sounds kind of like ”slave trade”?) John Hanke, chief of Niantic, creators of the game, stated in an interview that Pokemon Go will receive a large update that will add two new features to the game, namely Player vs. Player combat and pokemon trade. Hnanke stated that Niantic wanted to implement those options into the game on the get go, but ”server problems” made it impossible. Right… because game creators want their games to be released 100% done and with no need for updates that keep the fanbase ...
