Yahoo sucks, or how it turned out the portal was being hacked before, big time

Some time ago I reported to you that one bilion Yahoo accounts have been infiltrated by hackers in one of the largest cyber-attacks to date. Well, as it turns out, this wasn’t the first time Yahoo was being targeted by e-criminals. According to inquiry by Securities and Exchange Commssion, portal has already been invaded between 2015 and 2016, with hackers collecting data of 32 million Yahoo accounts. Verizon, new owner of Yahoo, probably isn’t pleased. This may be why the portal was sold for paltry 350 million USD.If I were you, I’d move to Gmail or some other mailing ...

John Goodenough, co-inventor of the Li-ion battery, is working on something new

Mr. Goodenough may be 94 years old, but that does not stop him from working (respect). Along with Maria Helena Braga, professor Goodenough has developed a battery that is said to be safer, more efficient AND cheaper than an everyday li-ion batteries we see in our smartphones. Among other benefits of their battery is increased longevity, more nature-friendly materials (sounds cool, but – how?) and increased recharge speed. Of course, battery is still in development, and there is no fixed date on when the research will be complete. The sooner, the better.Sim-unlock.net is a system that ...

Fear the Internet-Apocalypse, or how Amazon cloud crash has shown us how vulnerable the web is

If on last Tuesday you could not connect to an important/favourite website, there was nothing wrong with your web connection or web browser. On February 28th, one of Amazon Internet clouds suffered a breakdown. Multitude of websites make use of Amazon Web Service, so the service’s failure meant that a huge chunk of Internet went down. Websites were not the only things that stopped working – many inteligent household items have also stopped working. It is a troubling notion, knowing how much of our daily life depends on whether or not the Internet connection is secure. Only good ...

Madhouse, or Facebook wants to prevent suicides

Facebook is testing artificial intelligence algorithms that are supposedly being able to detect suicidal tendencies in website’s users. Facebook has not shared details of the project; all we know is that algorithms are supposed to find and react to patterns found in FB users’ posts (like, I don’t know, help me + knife + farewell = suicide, or something like this). Function is being tested in the US as we speak.Great, awesome. Can’t wait for Facebook robot to try to comfort me after another ”fat and lonely” entry I make.Sim-unlock.net is a system that ...

Zombie Gunship Survival – zombie game with a twist coming to Android in May

Zombie Gunship Survival is a sequel to the 2011 game Zombie Gunship. Original was an interesting take on the old zombie apocalypse theme: you were put in command of a gunship, an armed military aircraft, and were tasked with destroying the undead menace on ground using 3D thermal image vision. ZG Survival does the same, but more; in addition to destroying the undead, you will also have to protect the on-ground troops, who will collect resources. These, in turn, will allow you to build up your base of operation, which in turn will allow multiple upgrades to your vehicle.Neither exact date of ...

UK steps up penalties for drivers caught using phone

As of March 1, any young (having less than two years of driving experience) driver caught using his/her phone while driving will lose their license. Older drivers do not heavy it easy as well – if they earn more than twelve points in three years of driving, they can have their license suspended. A £200 fine, double the amount it was before, has also been implemented. Harsh new policies are response to UK drivers behaving irresponsibly with their phones – just between January 23 and 29, 3600 drivers have been cited by the police.Long story short, don’t use your phone ...

Hanger-camera, or it is time to get even more paranoid

There is a new device on the market that will make you cringe even more at the thought of how your privacy can be violated. Forget about bugs, wiretap and hidden cameras; this thing can be put in any place and no one will even notice it. Seriously, it looks like a hanger, it could perfectly blend in with, say, a hotel room’s bathroom. Camera’s battery allows for seventy minutes of work, but it is set so that it will only record when it notices movement; otherwise, the device will stay inactive. This hanger-camera is dirt cheap, and can be bought for around thirteen bucks online. ...

Mininova, the oldest torrent website around, is shutting down

Oh well, no skin off my nose, I’ve been using Torre… eee, hi! Ehm… anyway, Mininova will shut down its forums in a day or two, and in a month, on 4th of April, the website itself. Official reason, stated by the site’s owners, is that the site does not bring enough revenue. It probably has something to do with how the illegal Internet content is being fought tooth and nail all around the world lately – ThePirateBay and Torrentz are but some of the websites that were put down in the last months. Whether this is good or bad is up to you.Sim-unlock.net is a system ...

Doogee 2017 flagship phone, what do we know about it?

An unknown source from China (which has its information, allegedly, from the producers themselves) believes that the upcoming Doogee flagship will be hot sh… stuff. Very hot, in fact. Personally, I want to believe her/him – an awesome Chinese smartphone would help take the stigma of shoddy craftsmanship off Chinese products. Doogee 2017 (what an original name – it will probably be changed to something less cringy later on) is reported to come packing a very impressive 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage memory, Android 7.1 OS (the newest Android around), 10-core MediaTek Helio ...
