A recent study by Germany-based team of scientists revealed a correlation between an amount of time spent on social media and the number of grey matter cells in her/his brain. Research showed that the nucleus accumbens, region of brain largely responsible for the reward and addiction mechanics, is smaller in those who frequent Facebook, Twitter and other such websites often. Research was done using real-life data from the participating people’s Facebook apps as well as neuroscientific data gathered from brain scans.
