Light Phone, a bare minimum device

Are you tired of phones turning into pocket computers? Do you want to take a break from being bothered by texts, Skype messages, mails and other nuisances? Then… turn off your phone! That, or buy Light Phone. Why would you want to do that? Well, if you want to stay in touch with your friends, family and co-workers but do not feel like carrying around anything larger than a credit card, Light is for you. This small, minimalistic cellphone has no text messenger and does not connect to the Internet, making it a good device for when you need to rid yourself of distractions, e.g. when on a long car trip.

Light Phone communicates with a 2G Network using a SIM card, though you can also use a nano-SIM card. It is charged using a microUSB port. Its specification is, well, kinda pointless to list – what you need to know is that the device can be on standby for even four days, and has enough juice to allow for a 45 to 90 minutes long talk (depends on gods know what). It can be bought in matte black and white colour variants. If you’re interested, you can pre-order it on this website. Funny thing is, reportedly the phone is so popular, its newest preorders will have to wait due to an insufficient supply. Who would have thought…
