Huawei is cheating on its benchmarks because ”everyone does it”

Mommy, mommy, Ralph kicked me so I kicked him back. Anandtech has recently checked Huawei’s benchmark of its new Honor Play smartphone. Tests have achieved an interesting results: it turns out that Huawei overclocked its benchmark unit for around 47% of its performance, making it as if their device is much stronger than it really is. If the actual Honor Play performed with that much power, the smartphone would quickly overheat and break. Developer defends their decision to cheat by stating that many of the Android smartphone developers does so; their example is an unnamed Chinese ...

Pictures of Honor 8X leaked, or the XXL smartphone

That is the kind of leak that I like, someone noticed something interesting, took pictures and voila, we have a news. The 7.12′ (!) display does the trick – Honor 8X is massive. Along with the pictures, Weibo has informed us of a change in the device’s rumoured specification; Chinese website now believes that it will run on Snapdragon 660 CPU, as opposed to the ...

Be careful! Your Huawei phone might self-reset after you change its SIM card

Huawei has decided to put a rather controvertial feature in its newer smartphone models. What this function does is to automatically hard reset (reset your smartphone back to its default, factory settings) after putting in a SIM card from a different operator. This will make the phone’s owner lose all of his/her data – apps, pictures and other content will be lost. The function will also change the device’s brand to this of the new operator. If you really have to change the SIM card in your Huawei smartphone, please, make sure to create a backup of all your data ...
