Huawei is cheating on its benchmarks because ”everyone does it”

Mommy, mommy, Ralph kicked me so I kicked him back. Anandtech has recently checked Huawei’s benchmark of its new Honor Play smartphone. Tests have achieved an interesting results: it turns out that Huawei overclocked its benchmark unit for around 47% of its performance, making it as if their device is much stronger than it really is. If the actual Honor Play performed with that much power, the smartphone would quickly overheat and break. Developer defends their decision to cheat by stating that many of the Android smartphone developers does so; their example is an unnamed Chinese developer.

As a means of making up for their lie, Huawei is working on a performance mod that will allow Honor Play owners to use their smartphones to their fullest. Enjoy melting your smartphone.
