According to the latest rumour, the upcoming iPhone 8’s case is supposed to be a thermal glass one, made by the Biel Cristal company. Cool? The main feature of such case would be allowing the phone to utilise inductive charging. If this turns out to be true, iPhone 8 will be the first Apple device to implement this technology. Say what you say, but Apple most certainly wants iPhone 8 to be full of modern tech. Tweet Vote on HN ...
Ghosts n Goblins on mobile, or another Capcom classic hits Android phones
Rejoice!, for Sir Arthur’s adventures have arrived on mobile phones! It’s time to kill some monsters while in your underwear (fans will understand). Capcom has started to release its old (really old) hits on Android devices. First was 1942, a WW2 shoot’em up; now, Ghosts’n’Goblins. GnG is a side-scrolling platformer in which the player takes the mantle of Sir Arthur, a knight on a quest to get rid of the evil plaguing the land. The game is famous for its high difficulty level, though Capcom offers (just as was the case with 1942) a casual mode for less suicidal ...
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus available in Canada and US on April 28
If a report from BGR is to believed, the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8, as well as its bigger brother S8+, will be up for pre-order grabs soon, at least if you live in the Canada and United States. Phones will be made available for pre-order there on April 28. The news supposedly comes from a, quote, ”a senior supply chain source with knowledge of one Canadian cell carrier’s plans”. The source speaks of Canada, but it is common practice to release smartphones both in Canada and the US at the same time. ...
Injures suffered after a headphone exploded mid-flight
Okay, I have made fun of exploding devices, mainly phones, in the past, but this story is not funny in the least. Long story short, a woman was travelling via an airplane going to Australia, sleeping in her chair while music poured in from her headphones. Suddenly, she woke up to a sound of explosion. Feeling a burning sensation around her head, she grabbed her headphones and threw them on the floor – then it turned out that what blew up was her own headset. Airplane crew quickly put out the burning, melted device and gave the woman a basic treatment.ATSB, Australian Transport Safety ...
HTC Sense Companion virtual assistance now available for free on Google Play
Previously exclusive to HTC U Play and U Ultra, HTC’s virtual assistant Sense Companion is now published in the Google Play store, available for use on other HTC models. What do you need a virtual assistant for, you ask? Well, it’s a handy little tool. Virtual assistant learns of how you use your smartphone and offers information and suggestions relevant to you – for example, it may tell you about a new restaurant being opened if you are going out often, or remind you to charge your battery if you have a late event on your schedule and the device’s power level may be ...
Foldable Samsung ”Galaxy X” may be revealed this year
It is pretty much only rumours now, but what those rumours say is quite enticing. Supposedly, Samsung is working on a foldable phone – you know, a phone that you can mold into any shape you wish to (within some limitations, of course). An unknown Samsung source has just released info stating that Samsung wants to have a working prototype of foldable device by the third quarter of 2017. It is worth remembering that even if Samsung manages to do it, it will be just a prototype, a beta version of the device, and it may or may not work as well as intended. Foldable devices are a thing of ...
Levi’s Commuter x Jacquard – jacket, a true wearable
Jacquard is the newest invention of Google. It is a fabric made of fibers that can transmit touch, reacting to it in the very much same way as touch screens of your smartphones do. Thanks to this, left sleeve of Commuter x Jacquard serves as a sort of remote for the owner’s smartphone. You don’t have to take your phone out if you have it on – you can do things like picking up calls or changing audio tracks just by pressing the sleeve. It is also possible to assign different gestures to different phone features. Are you afraid about washing the jacket? Worry not. The ...
Flight of the Amazon Queen. Classic point and click adventure game is now available on Google Play
Flight was one of the less famous of the old adventure games (after all, it was not made by Lucas Arts), but it was nevertheless praised for its high quality, humour and intellectual value. The game has just had its 20th birthday, which turned out to be a good moment to revitalize it by offering it for sale on Google Play. The game may not (okay, is not) the newest in the bunch, but what it lacks in graphics and in lackluster interface, it more than makes up in the aforementioned ...
Street billboards’ content will depend on passing cars
To nobody’s surprise, this particular idea has its roots in Russia. Startup called Synapse Labs is working on an ”intelligent” billboards. Their intelligence is said to depend upon having cameras and an advanced mechanical learning feature that allows them to recognize brands of passing vehicles. Mercedes driving by will make the billboard feature a high-end product, while a passing Bonra’s driver might check the latest price of a sack of potatoes. While the above may or may not be an exaggeration, the billboards will work in exacly that way – by showing a ...
Beware of Instagram, or an attack of narcissistic spyware
Are you using Instagram? Have you ever downloaded apps that promised to increase your number of followers? Congrats, I don’t like you and think you are stupid, plus, you are probably being hacked as we speak. Serves you right. Anyhoo… ESET has identified thirteen spyware applications advertised as to increase the number of likes and comments under user’s posts. Their method of work can be summarized as thus: after installing an app, user cannot properly log in into their Instagram account. After a few failed attempts, the narcissus… I mean, Instagram user is prompted ...
