Big Eyed iPhones, or how Apple is said to order over 12mpx camera modules for 2018’s phone

According to The Digitimes, Apple has placed a large order high-resolution (over 12mpx) camera modules. Order has been issued to Largan Precision, Taiwan-based company, and will be fulfilled by Largan’s newest factory, currently finishing construction in Taichung, Taiwan. That factory is said to be able to chuck out 600 million lens modules per month, which is reportedly the only speed that meets Apple’s yield rate requirement. Production is said to begin on October 2017.This move is something of a change of course for Apple. That company usually avoided high-resolution cameras, ...

Apple offers (possibly unofficial) free repairs for iPhones damaged in hurricane Harvey

It is good to see that people affected by Harvey are not left alone. We have already heard about carriers offering free telephone services in areas affected by the hurricane; we have also heard about Apple donating two million dollars to relief efforts (which is something of a paltry sum, but hey, they did not have to give even that so kudos). Now we hear that Apple is offering free phone repairs for those whose phones broke as an effect of either the hurricane itself or the following evacuation. If your phone fell into the water or got smashed while you were being evacuated, you can have ...

Apple tips future release of 6 inches iPhone in 2018

According to closely unknown source from South Korea, Apple plans on releasing two large-screen iPhones next year – lets call them iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 +. iPhone 9 is said to be planned as having 5.85′ OLED display, while iPhone 9 Plus might have a 6.46′ display. This might mean that Apple resigned from its earlier plan of releasing a smaller 5.28′ phone during 2018.Sorry for a short post, but that is all. Tweet Vote on HN ...

iPhone 8 will cost lotta dollars and offer lotta memory

Long story short, Apple reportedly wants to offer us a costly new phone with a huge amount of ROM. According to New York Times, we will be presented with three versions of iPhone 8, the difference between them being their memory capacity; 64GB, 256GB and, last but definitely not least, 512GB. Nice, right? Well, that memory (and other stuff) will come with a hefty price. Starting from the cheapest (lowest memory), iPhones 8 will cost $999, $1099 and $1199 respectively.Compared to the cheapest iPhone 7, which cost $649, the new phone’s price is, how to put it, high. Really high. How do ...

Apple will unveil three iPhone models on September 12th

The models in question are iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and, last but not least, iPhone 8. As for the date of release, it has been revealed by the French website Mac4Ever. Website claims to have contacted the network carriers supposedly aware of the reveal date. The fact that all three phones will be unveiled at the same day is a bit strange, and there is no explanation for it, but on the other hand it is no crime, so why should we care? One can just be glad that Apple has seemingly dealt with its supposed shortage of OLED screens – otherwise it is doubtful the company would be able to ...

iOS 11 SOS Feature Allows You to Temporarily Disable Touch ID and Require Passcode

In iOS 11, Apple has added an “Emergency SOS” feature that’s designed to give users a quick and easy way to summon emergency services should the need arise. As it turns out, there’s a secondary benefit to Emergency SOS – it’s also a way to quickly and discretely disable Touch ID. Emergency SOS is activated by pressing on the sleep/wake button of an iPhone five times in rapid succession. When the requisite number of presses is complete, it brings up a screen that offers buttons to power off the iPhone, bring up your Medical ID (if filled out) and make an ...

Hurray, more iPhone leaks, or an iPhone 8 live video is out

It is uncertain whether the phone in question is a dummy or an actual iPhone 8 prototype. ”Specialists” on the internet seem to believe that this is in fact the real deal. Anyway, a short, low quality clip shows us the device from every angle. There is a power button on the right side, volume and mute button on the left side and dual camera on the back. According to a separate leak from Slashleaks, iPhone 8’s rear will also house a fingerprint scanner, although we cannot see one here, so, dunno. If you don’t trust my word and wish to actually see the video yourself, ...

New photos of iPhone 8 surface online and more

According to the newest report by Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities , iPhone 8 will come out as soon as in September, but phone’s available numbers will be limited at first. Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will ramp up iPhone 8 production in the third quarter of the year.Ming-Chi Kuo’s report brings us more information than that, though. First, it tells us that iPhone 8’s will all support quick charging with both an adapter and a Lightning-to-USB-C cable. Second, we learn that the phone will be available in Silver, Black and Gold colour variants. A separate leak on ...

A bunch of iPhone leaks and news; iPhone 8 and iPhone 7s

Part of the news below is derived from the HomePod firmware code. I will allow myself to omit technical explanations of obtaining them. Look it up online if you feel like it, dear reader, I would rather keep this post compact:- iPhone 8’s cameras will be vertically aligned,– iPhone 8’s FACE ID facial recognition system is said to work even when the phone is lying flat. KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated the same a month ago, so this one is most probably true,– Apple is reportedly planning to stop using the Touch ID system in the near future,– iPhone 7s will come ...

Apple might start making its own OLED panels

Apple and Samsung are perhaps the greatest adversaries on the mobile phone market; hence why it is no surprise that one does not want to depend on the other. Unfortunately for Apple, that is exacly what the company has to do right now. As you have probably heard, Apple depends on Samsung to provide a sufficient amount of OLED displays for it to use in its iPhones. Well, it seems like Apple has had just about enough of having to pay its competition. According to a Korean publication ET News, Apple has obtained a large amount of chemical vapor deposition machines, which are an important tool ...
