KAYAK drops support for BlackBerry app

Popular travel search site KAYAK has announced that it is dropping support for the BlackBerry version of its mobile app. Citing the fact that the current BlackBerry platform is “not working out to be a great channel for consumer mobile applications,” Kayak says that the cost to maintain and support the BlackBerry version of its app is just too great to maintain. RIM Accepting Android Apps for Playbook OS 2.0

Research In Motion today indicated that developers who want their Android applications to be available for the BlackBerry Runtime for Android in PlayBook OS 2.0 when it launches next month need to submit them no later than Monday, February 6. The Android Player is a key addition to PlayBook OS, which will be able to run Android applications in an emulator environment. QNX to Be BlackBerry’s Foundation for a Decade

Research In Motion CEO Thorsten Heins today said that the QNX platform will be the basis of RIM’s mobile strategy for the next decade. He reiterated in a call to press this morning that the company believes in the strengths of QNX and the PlayBook 2.0 operating system.
