South Korea might be the first country to sell Samsung Galaxy S10 5G

Galaxy S10 5G, arguably the king of this year’s Mobile World Congress, will first launch in South Korea – or so says Engadget. According to Engadget’s journalists, device will reach S. Korean store shelves sometime in April, with pre-orders being available by the end of March. There is no word on how much the phone will cost there, but it is Galaxy S10 5G, so we can safely say that it will be a lot. Other markets will have to wait longer, for example the U.S release will happen roughly in the middle of the year. The wait is probably at least partly caused by the fact that ...

Polish digital distribution platform GOG has laid off 10% of its employees. The reason is probably Epic Store

According to Kotaku, GOG platform (once Good Old Games) has just laid off a dozen employees, which was roughly 10% of its whole staff. Officially these layoffs are a part of company’s restructuring process that has been ongoing since October 2018. Unofficially the layoffs are caused by a decrease in GOG’s revenue, which in turn was caused by Epic Store taking over a significant chunk of the gaming platform market. GOG, just like Steam, only offers the producers 70% of income from sold games, while Epic Store offers them a whooping 88%. GOG was also never all that big to begin ...

Samsung Galaxy Fold will not be all that available, at least not at first

Not only is it expensive and not all that neccessary, it will also be difficult to get. Nice combo, is it not? Samsung-Transformer will reach store shelves in the second half of April. It will cost, depending on the region, two thousand dollars or two thousand euro. First store batch of the device will reportedly be pretty small – according to The Verge, Galaxy Fold will not be available from every Samsung-offering smartphone store out there. Samsung reportedly wants to put weight on quality instead of quality during this device’s launch. The company wants to make sure that it ...

Apple Watch will finally get the sleep tracking function

Apple Watch may be one of the most successful smartwatches out there, but it still lacks in few departments. One of them is the sleep tracking, something that no AW has ever had. According to Bloomberg, which information source is reportedly reliable, Apple wants to fix this and add sleep tracking in 2020. The function will be added either to Apple Watch 4 or its successor, but only if it passes a number of rigorous tests. The main point of these tests will be to see how much can the battery consumption of sleep tracking be decreased: as of now, AW 4 last for one to two days, and with sleep ...

More MWC 2019 news – Sony Xperia 1

Sony keeps on working hard. The Japanese company has just revealed its newest mid-high ranger, Xperia 1. The phone’s somewhat odd name – One? First? – is a means by which Sony wants to ”open a new chapter in its mobile history”. You are allowed to interpet it as ”our naming convention got so convoluted that we really needed a fresh start, no matter how dumb it may look”. Okay, okay, so the phone’s name is new. What else is new? Quite a bit:– 6,5′ OLED CinemaWide display, 21:9, 1644 x 3840 p,– Snapdragon 855 CPU, Adreno 640 ...

Samsung released, and then deleted, the Galaxy F video

Galaxy F, Samsung’s first foldable device, have been released last week. The device have met a lukewarm reception, largely thanks to people not understanding the reason for owning such a gadget. In order to explain to people why they should dish out huge sum of money on a cool gizmo, Samsung released the video that shows off the bright sides of Galaxy F… and then removed it from YouTube without a word of explanation. Thankfully, there are other places where the video can be watched. Is Galaxy F worth your interest? Well… it is certainly a very fancy gizmo that would score ...

We now know when Asus Zenfone 6 will come out

Asus seemingly enjoys beind the oddball among the phone makers. They rarely release a truly popular smartphone, having to be content with medium to low sales, and their phones often have various issues. This, though, is often caused ot by their product’s low quality but by the fact that Asus takes risks, it uses unusual solutions or adds features that are new to the market. Asus’ quirkiness has showed once again during this year’s Mobile World Congress: when most companies do their best to have at least working prototypes ready for the show, Asus merely released leaflets ...

MicroSD Express, a new quality in transfer speed and battery life

The SD Association has used this year’s Mobile World Congress to unveil microSD Express, the newest microSD card to enter the market. Express will tap the PCIe interface to reach a max data transfer rate of 985 MB/s, something that is possible thanks to the PCIe 3.1 and NVMe v1.3 specifications. There is a lot of technical mumbo-jumbo involved, so lets just concentrate on the plus sides of the device, namely increased transfer speed as well as decreased power consumption. The cards will supposedly be backward compatible, which means that they will work with older smartphones. ...
