Winamp, a popular (a long time ago) music player, is making a comeback with a 5.8 update, the first one in a long time. The update does not revolutionize the application, instead opting to improve its efficiency. The new and improved features of the 5.8 are:

– WASAPI plugin for Windows,
– more modern OS demanded (at least Windows XP with Service Pack 3),
– improved compability with new(er) Windows OS’.

Radionomy, Winamp’s owner ever since 2014, promises more changes in the upcoming patches, like support for podcasts and music streaming. These and more features will come to Winamp somewhen in 2019.
