We have already received a number of reports on the so called Splitgate; batteries in some of the iPhone 8’s seem to have a nasty tendency of swelling and pushing the phone aparat. That is always an interesting thing to write about, but today I have something much tastier and trendy for you.
One iPhone 8 user, a Chinaman of unknown name and age, connected his phone to the charger in another room and went to bed, hoping that the phone will charge during the night. Upon waking up in the morning, he noticed smoke coming out of the room. When he entered, he saw his iPhone 8 in flames. Thankfully, as far as we know nothing else than the phone and charger was destroyed, even though the phone’s owner tried to douse the burning phone with water – always a bad idea.
Right now we have no official information on the cause of the fire. It may have been a factory defect of the battery, or maybe the charger used was not an Apple one, or perhaps the phone was lying in an overly heated place. One way or another, keep that story in mind and do not, I repeat, do not leave your phones charging at night! It sounds convenient and it is – right until your home burns down. By the way, not good Apple, not good at all… first Splitgate, now this… tsk, tsk. Of course, these incidents may as well be a one-in-a-million kind and the few cases that did happen are artificially blown out of proportions by Samsung and reptilians from space.
Who knows.
