Usually I do not write about devices that are unavailable to buy in the West, but this time I decided to make an exception because this is one interesting smartphone. Vivo V7+ has just been unveiled at a media event in Mumbai, and it promises to be a pretty flagship-level device with a number of high-quality features. Here is the list of features and specs promised:– dual 24mpx front cameras with LED flash; 16mpx rear camera; Face Beauty 7.0, a blemish-removing feature for both images and video calls,– bezel-less design; 5.99′, 18:9 display with 720p resolution packed into ...

Oy wey, another Samsung burns
The story is mostly a simple one. Last July, a young lady from South Korea bought herself a Samsung Galaxy S7. Until now, the phone is said to have worked perfectly well, no problems. A week or so ago it happened so that she needed to charger her phone. After plugging it into the charger, it turned out that she needed to use it – maybe someone called her, or she needed to write an important SMS. She turned the phone on and that is when it erupted into flames. Thankfully, that did not start a large fire. That would be the end of the story if not for Samsung’s odd behaviour. After ...
Huawei Honor 6 Play announced
This one is a budget device from Huawei’s Honor line. Device’s specification fits its budget character, as does its price of ($91, although we do not know when will the phone be released outside of China). It does have an interesting feature, though, namely its customizable left-side button; that button can be assigned to any of the phone’s functions, especially since it can be pressed, double-pressed and pressed-and-hold. That allows it to, technically, be assigned three different functions. Cool.Specification: ...
Leaked render of Huawei Mate 10
@OnLeaks strikes again. 3D render of Huawei Mate 10 just leaked online, created from the joint effort of leakster’s info, CompareRaja’s graphics and 3d models of the phone sent to some of the phone accessories producers. Render itself is not very informative, honestly; it shows us that the device’s cover will probably be made out of glass and that it will be shorter and with a bit thinner bezels than its predecessor (Mate 10’s dimensions are said to be 150,2 x 77,5 x 8,4 mm, with a 5.9′ display). The above is nothing special. Huawei advertises Mate 10 as a ...

Huawei becomes world’s second largest smartphone company
According to the market research company Counterpoint Research, Huawei just overtook Apple and became second largest smartphone company worldwide. Ouchies, Apple… this was caused by particulary good sales of Huawei phones in June and July. Still, Apple may very well regain its 2nd best position soon, as iPhone 8 is set to release on September 12th.What do you think about that development? Good, bad? Just a momentary hiccup for Apple, or beginning of the new reign of Huawei? Let us ...

Big Eyed iPhones, or how Apple is said to order over 12mpx camera modules for 2018’s phone
According to The Digitimes, Apple has placed a large order high-resolution (over 12mpx) camera modules. Order has been issued to Largan Precision, Taiwan-based company, and will be fulfilled by Largan’s newest factory, currently finishing construction in Taichung, Taiwan. That factory is said to be able to chuck out 600 million lens modules per month, which is reportedly the only speed that meets Apple’s yield rate requirement. Production is said to begin on October 2017.This move is something of a change of course for Apple. That company usually avoided high-resolution cameras, ...
Apple offers (possibly unofficial) free repairs for iPhones damaged in hurricane Harvey
It is good to see that people affected by Harvey are not left alone. We have already heard about carriers offering free telephone services in areas affected by the hurricane; we have also heard about Apple donating two million dollars to relief efforts (which is something of a paltry sum, but hey, they did not have to give even that so kudos). Now we hear that Apple is offering free phone repairs for those whose phones broke as an effect of either the hurricane itself or the following evacuation. If your phone fell into the water or got smashed while you were being evacuated, you can have ...
Galaxy Note 7 FE completely sold out. Nice
Few months after a Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung decided to make a bold move. Instead of throwing Galaxy Note 7 away and acting like it never happened, the company embraced its failure and set out to salvage what it could, refurbishing the phone with a new battery and then offering it for a significantly lowered price. The best part? It paid out. Four hundred thousand units of Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition (because only a true fan would decide to buy it after all that happened) were sold in South Korea alone. While there is stil no word on the phone being available outside SK, it is not out of ...
