There is much to report, so lets forgo the usual preface and get right to it:– Mate 10 will not be the only phone Huawei will present on October 16th. As confirmed by by Huawei’s CEO, Mate 10 Pro will also make an appearance,– Mate 10 will not neccessarily feature an edge-to-edge display. This honour will probably fall to Mate 10 Pro alone, although this is not 100% certain, as earlier reports suggest edge-to-edge design in Mate 10 as well,– Mate 10 Pro will have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner,- one of the phones will come in a gold colour variant,– ...

Twitter might double its character limit
Tweeter will soon begin a, quote, ”small public test” to see what happens when some of its users are allowed to post tweets 280 letters long. Twitter has a few official explanations for this, but they all boil down to, basically, ”many people want to type in more”. It may also be Twitter’s attempt to draw in more users; Twitter is very popular (328 million users per month), but still has a way to go if it wants to beat Instagram (800 million) or, hah, Facebook (two billion, good luck with that). What do you think? Will longer tweets serve Twitter well or will ...
Bill Gates switched to Android
Just in case anyone cares…According to a recent interview that Mr. Gates gave on Fox News, the ex-CEO of Microsoft is now using phone with an Android operating system. He did not say which Android phone is he using, nor what device was he using before that. Presumably it was a Windows phone, but no one knows for certain. When asked about iPhone, he only said ”no, no iPhone”.That is all, at least unless you want to delve into realm of gossip and conjectures. Tweet Vote on ...
China blocks WhatsApp
Chinese government has a long and not very warm relationship with WhatsApp. The application has been hindered multiple times in the land of dragons and gunpowder: its voice chat, as well as video chat, was blocked, you could not send pictures et cetera. Now the Chinese have made a logical step forward and pretty much blocked the application from usage. They did it by blocking the possibility of sending text messages by the app, basically rendering it useless. You still can made video and audio calls with it, but you can just use your phone to do that, so meh. The way the Chinese government ...
Verizon rolls out Android 7.0 Nougat update for the HTC One M9
If you are living in the US and owning HTC One M9, good for you – Verizon is upgrading its units of the phone with a Nougat 7.0 OS. Update will include the latest security patches and bug fixes, too. Some of the more noteworthy features that 7.0 brings are split-screen view, quicker multi-tasking and more reply options. The update is already available. Before downloading, make sure that your phone has plenty of power left and is connected to a wi-fi. Also, do not count on One M9 getting more major updates like this one – it is doubtful that you will ever get a newer OS on that ...
Your heart holds the key to the future of mobile security
If you thought that unlocking your phone with your pretty face is high-tech, get a load of this. A group of researchers is working on a method of unlocking devices with just your heart, or rather its size and shape. It will require your phone to be equipped with a miniaturized version of a low-level Doppler radar which will scan your heart’s dimensions. If your heart is in the right place (ha!), your phone will unlock automatically. It is said that the unlock will work over a pretty long range, too, up to 100 feet.Researchers (I do not know the group’s name, sorry) believe that ...
Skype and iPhones 8 & 8 Plus do not play nice together
Apple may be the leading company in the mobile device industry, but it does not mean that they do not have their share of technical hiccups. Yesterday I wrote about how some iPhone 8 and 8 Plus users complain about a nasty static interrupting their calls when using headsets. Today I have a mispleasure (okay, maybe a bit of spiteful pleasure) of informing you about yet another technical issue with Apple’s newest smartphones. Both devices have been reported to crash the very moment that Skype turns on. Do not worry, though; Apple has already stated they know about the issue and is ...
Tits or no password, or how nRansomware demands nude pictures as its ransom
The whole story sounds like a mediocre joke, but hey, stranger things happened at sea. According to MalwareHunterTeam, a new ransomware has just emerged. Its name is nRansomware and its shtick is that it does not demand money but nudes. Yes, you read that correctly. When nRansomware infects your PC, it blocks you from accessing it until you take ten naked pictures of yourself and send them to a given e-mail address. Then these pictures will be verified by the hackers and supposedly sold on the dark web*, with the user supposedly getting back access to his/her PC.nRansomware does not look ...
Specification of Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018)
This is the first solid bit of news on the Galaxy A5 (2018) we have had in a while; last time I wrote about the phone, it was to show a picture that may or may not have presented it. What we now know, according to Geekbench, is that the phone will come with:– Exynos 7885 CPU, eight cores, clocked at 1.59GHz,– 4 gigabytes of RAM,– Android 7.1.1 operating system.Rumour is that the phone will also have a Bixby AI assistant and an Infinity Display. We will see – probably sometime in early ...
Some iPhone 8 Plus users report some kind of ”annoying static noise” during calls
According to MacRumors, a number of iPhone Plus owners have some trouble with their phones, or at least their headsets. They say that, when using headsets during the call, they can hear a loud-pitched, annoying static sound coming from the headset’s earpiece. This issue did not occur when using headphones or phone’s own speaker. It is said it does not matter whether you are using 4G voice or WiFi calling, if you have noice cancelling enabled or if you are using a VoIP app. Performing a hard reset is said to sometimes help, but not always. Apple support team advises those with ...
