Bixby launches in Australia together with Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone. Australia is the second English-speaking country to receive the artificial assistant, with US beating it to the punch by a month. Update is rolled out progressively, so not everyone will receive it at the same time, but it should become available to all Bixby-abled Samsung devices in a matter of few days. Right now Bixby does not have an Australian-specific setting, but it will understand Australian accent, so do not worry. In order to install the feature, simply press the Bixby voice button – app will begin the ...

Custom variant of Nokia 8 may come out in the United States
According to Nokiapoweruser, a Nokia-oriented news website, custom edition of the phone will be available in the U.S (and China, in case anyone cares). The difference between a normal and custom Nokia 8’s is supposedly increased memory of the latter, 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM instead of 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. Nokiapoweruser believes that Nokia assigns a, quote, ”very high priority”, which means that the US release may happen later or maybe the US custom version will be a lesser variant of the Chinese one.Date of release of the phone is unknown, but we may to have wait as long ...
Samsung Bixby launches globally today
Samsung has just released a short teaser (I refuse to link it since it is just seven seconds of the picture above) which confirms the tomorrow global launch of its Bixby voice assistant. The update has already been rolled out in some of the countries world-wide (Germany, Italy, Pakistan, India, Australia, South Africa, United Kingdoms, Malaysia etc.), though its features will not be enabled until later today. This must be a busy week for Samsung. Android Oreo was released yesterday, Bixby gets released today and Galaxy Not 8 flagship is coming out tomorrow. Good for them, I ...
Android 8.0 Oreo – what is new?
Ladies and gentleman, it is now official – the name of the Android 8.0 is Oreo. Sorry, Oatmeal Cookies and Octopuses, you were close but no cigar. So, now that we have the matter of the OS’ name out of the way, what are the new features it offers? Well, the ones we are aware of so far are:– notification dots. Similiar to 3D Touch, they offer a quick contextual menu to expand from any notification by tapping and holding the app icon,– increased battery performance achieved by suppressing the background use of phone’s apps,– Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode. ...
256GB version of the Galaxy Note 8 spotted online
Some kind of leaflet, or maybe a manual, has leaked online. I cannot read South Korean (I assume that is the language there), but I certainly can read arabic numerals. Assuming that everyone who reads this knows arabic numerals, look at the upper left side of the leaflet. Written there is a number 256 with the GB letters after it. That pretty much certainly means that there will be a 256GB ROM version of the Note 8 smartphone. Will it be an Asia-exclusive? Maybe. I guess we will learn it in a few days, when the device is officially released on August ...
Possible Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) leaked in a third-party case render
Legitimacy of the render can easily be called into question due to two reasons: first, the source of the leak, a listing on Amazon India, lacks any substantial information about the device; second, from what I heard, Samsung hardly ever shares its product specs with third-party manufacturers so early before the item’s release. Still! Lets humour ourselves and treat this leak as if it was a substantiated news. Here is the list of features that can be read from the picture:– flip case made by Sailogic, compatible with Always On Display,– dimensions of the flip: 27 x 15 x 5 ...
New Moto X4 pictures leaked online
It is just two days until the Moto X4 release, and we have received exacly two new pictures of the device to sharpen our appetite with (the other picture can be seen here). While it is suspected that the pictures present live phones, it cannot be ruled out that these are just well made dummy phones. So, just in case you have forgotten, here is what we know about the Moto X4 so far:– Snapdragon 630 CPU,– 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM / 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM in Asia,– dual camera setup, 12mpx + 8mpx, f/2.2 aperture, 16mpx selfie shooter,– 3000mAh battery,– Android 7.0 Nougat ...
Samsung Galaxy S9 may feature a modular design
Source of this rumour is unknown, which makes it somewhat unlikely, but there it is. According to someone somewhere, Galaxy S9 might be the first Samsung smartphone to feature modular design. What is a modular design? Putting it simply, it adds magnetic pins to the back of the device, allowing a variety of modifications (mods) to be installed onto the smartphone. Those mods may include adding a 360 camera to the smartphone, turning it into a console controller, a loudspeaker and much more.Again, this is just a rumour. There is no substantial proof to Samsung even pondering the idea of ...
Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) receives its August security update
Device’s firmware has been updated to version A510FXXU4CQH2. The patch list includes fixing twelve Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures and, as weird as it sounds, automatic installation of Facebook app on your phone. Update weights 215 megabytes. If it will not install on your phone automatically, go to Settings > Software Update. Tweet Vote on HN ...
How Facebook slithers its way back into the Chinese market
Facebook is not very popular in China. Okay, let me rephrase that; Facebook could be very popular in China if it was not banned there ever since 2009. Chinese government does not see freedom of the Internet as something worthwhile, and have blocked many foreign websites from appearing on the chinese web. This, though, does not stop Facebook from trying to get on the China’s good (and profitable) side once more. New York Times informs us that a new app has been released on the Chinese market. Its name is Colourful Balloons, and both its function and style are very similiar to ...
