Android 8.0 Oreo - what is new?

Ladies and gentleman, it is now official – the name of the Android 8.0 is Oreo. Sorry, Oatmeal Cookies and Octopuses, you were close but no cigar. So, now that we have the matter of the OS’ name out of the way, what are the new features it offers? Well, the ones we are aware of so far are:

– notification dots. Similiar to 3D Touch, they offer a quick contextual menu to expand from any notification by tapping and holding the app icon,
– increased battery performance achieved by suppressing the background use of phone’s apps,
– Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode. PiP puts a small display in the corner of the screen, basically allowing you to watch two things at the same time. If you like to, you could for example read today’s news and watch YouTube at the same time,
– autofill feature, which automatically types in your logins and passwords (sounds dangerous),
– large amount of new emoji,
– increased boost speed.

Android 8.0 Oreo is slowly finishing its carrier testing, and will become available soon.
