How Facebook slithers its way back into the Chinese market

Facebook is not very popular in China. Okay, let me rephrase that; Facebook could be very popular in China if it was not banned there ever since 2009. Chinese government does not see freedom of the Internet as something worthwhile, and have blocked many foreign websites from appearing on the chinese web.

This, though, does not stop Facebook from trying to get on the China’s good (and profitable) side once more. New York Times informs us that a new app has been released on the Chinese market. Its name is Colourful Balloons, and both its function and style are very similiar to Facebook’s Moments. While this might be the work of some other company, NYT believes that the application comes from either Facebook or FB-controlled company. Facebook itself does neither deny nor confirm the rumours.

Will FB gain the favour of the Chinese overlords? Does Colourful Balloons have anything to do with the company? Personally I do not care in the least, but I guess we will see.
