Wave the (virtual) rainbow flag, or new LGBT reaction is available on Facebook

It all started with ”thumbs up”, also known as a like. This cyber-gesture has been available on Facebook almost from the get go (not really, but it is a good, simplifying lie), doing its part in making FB the most popular social website in the world. Recently, after years of waiting, Facebook has granted us more reaction emoticons. Now we can love something that another person has posted online or be mad about it, laugh at something or feel sorry for someone and more. Even more recently – just last month – we could share pixel flowers in celebration of Mother’s Day. We still cannot ”dislike” something, and frankly I doubt that we will be able to do that anytime soon.

Today we can go to Facebook and wave us a flag. A rainbow one.

For an LGBT community, June is a so called ”Pride Month”. We could now divulge into a discussion on whether or not is someone’s homosexuality a reason to be proud or is cyber-manifesting one’s convictions any kind of quantifiable support, but frankly, that is not what I am being paid for, so feel free to do it yourselves in a comments section, dear readers. What I will do is tell you how to get to use the ”rainbow flag” reaction on your FB account. It is actually very simple. All you need to do is go to the Facebook LGBT group and Like it. After a few minutes, you will be able to comment others’ and yours FB posts with a colourful little flag.

What do you think? Useless little thing-a-ma-bob for silly lefties? Facebook’s another step into the politically correct area? Or maybe just a friendly remark towards the still unwarrantedly ostracized group of people? Think about it, and while you do, I’ll go wave a flag. A rainbow one.
