Nokia today announced the first applications that it has designed for Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform and the Lumia 800 and 710 in particular. The first is Nokia Drive. This navigation application offers free, voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation to the 800 and 710, and incudes 3D mapping, offline support, and a landscape user interface for safer use while driving. HTC Looking to Buy More Patents

HTC is highly interested in increasing its patent portfolio, chairman Cher Wang told the Wall Street Journal. Nokia has updated the HTML5 web app version of Nokia Maps for the Android and iOS platforms. When accessed from the browser, Android and iOS users can now use Nokia Maps even when offline, though it requires users to plan ahead by downloading and saving maps before the connection is lost.
