Samsung today announced a range of new SD and microSD cards that are waterproof, shockproof, and magnet proof. All the cards in the range can withstand up to 24 hours in water, the pressure of 1.6 tons, and the powerful magnets used in medical equipment. There are two sets of cards available, the High Speed Series and the Plus Extreme Speed Series. They range in capacity from 2GB to 32GB and from Class 4 to Class 10 with respect to read/write speeds. ITC Dismisses HTC Complaint Against Apple

The U.S International Trade Commission has dismissed a lawsuit filed against Apple by HTC. Today’s dismissal follows an initial decision made by a law judge in October of last year, wherein the judge ruled that Apple was not violating four patents as HTC claimed. HTC later withdrew a fifth patent from the lawsuit. HTC may still appeal the decision, but the ITC will not investigate the matter further. Apple Asks EU to Help It Settle Motorola Patent Suits

Apple has requested that the European Commission intervene and help settle its standards-essential patent dispute with Motorola. LG today announced the Optimus LTE Tag, a new Android phone that incorporates near-field communications and ships with NFC-based tags that can activate certain phone functions. Samsung has revealed via regulatory filings that it is going to separate its loss-generating LCD display panel business from the rest of the company. ZTE and Nvidia today announced the Mimosa X, a new Android smartphone that includes both an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and an Nvidia Icera modem chipset with support for 21Mbps HSPA+.
