Samsung allegedly tried to bribe the owner of a defective Galaxy N7 into silence

Long story short: after the first withdrawal of the defective Galaxy Note 7 from the market, Samsung has not done the same with the Chinese supply, officially stating that the Chinese batch was free from the explosion-causing defect. This has proven not to be true, as one Zhang Sitong, an ex-firefighter (coincidinky!), bought himself the smartphone and it caught on fire soon after – an event which was also caught on tape. Soon after, Samsung contacted Mr. Sitong and offered the man a new Note 7 and $900 in return for his silence. Sitong refused, stating that “… This is an issue of deception. They are cheating Chinese consumers.”

In summary, Samsung not only lied about Chinese batch of Galaxy Note 7’s being defect-free, but also tried – all of that allegedly, mind you – to buy the silence of one, and possibly more, angry customer. This, in addition to the rumours of Samsung being investigated for mistreating its employers, may hit the Korean company hard. What do you think?
