Verizon Wireless has begun distributing an update for the Motorola DROID X2 smartphone. The update fixes a handful of bugs in the device’s software and patches a security hole. The Mannheim Regional Court today dismissed a lawsuit filed by Motorola against Apple concerning what Motorola called a standards essential 3G/UMTS patent. The patent in question covered the “method and system for generating a complex pseudonoise sequence for processing a code division multiple access [CDMA] signal.” The judge overseeing the lawsuit said that Motorola did not effectively argue its case, and ruled that Apple is not infringing on the patent.
