Samsung Bixby launches globally today

Samsung has just released a short teaser (I refuse to link it since it is just seven seconds of the picture above) which confirms the tomorrow global launch of its Bixby voice assistant. The update has already been rolled out in some of the countries world-wide (Germany, Italy, Pakistan, India, Australia, South Africa, United Kingdoms, Malaysia etc.), though its features will not be enabled until later today. This must be a busy week for Samsung. Android Oreo was released yesterday, Bixby gets released today and Galaxy Not 8 flagship is coming out tomorrow. Good for them, I ...

256GB version of the Galaxy Note 8 spotted online

Some kind of leaflet, or maybe a manual, has leaked online. I cannot read South Korean (I assume that is the language there), but I certainly can read arabic numerals. Assuming that everyone who reads this knows arabic numerals, look at the upper left side of the leaflet. Written there is a number 256 with the GB letters after it. That pretty much certainly means that there will be a 256GB ROM version of the Note 8 smartphone. Will it be an Asia-exclusive? Maybe. I guess we will learn it in a few days, when the device is officially released on August ...

Possible Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) leaked in a third-party case render

Legitimacy of the render can easily be called into question due to two reasons: first, the source of the leak, a listing on Amazon India, lacks any substantial information about the device; second, from what I heard, Samsung hardly ever shares its product specs with third-party manufacturers so early before the item’s release. Still! Lets humour ourselves and treat this leak as if it was a substantiated news. Here is the list of features that can be read from the picture:– flip case made by Sailogic, compatible with Always On Display,– dimensions of the flip: 27 x 15 x 5 ...

Samsung Galaxy S9 may feature a modular design

Source of this rumour is unknown, which makes it somewhat unlikely, but there it is. According to someone somewhere, Galaxy S9 might be the first Samsung smartphone to feature modular design. What is a modular design? Putting it simply, it adds magnetic pins to the back of the device, allowing a variety of modifications (mods) to be installed onto the smartphone. Those mods may include adding a 360 camera to the smartphone, turning it into a console controller, a loudspeaker and much more.Again, this is just a rumour. There is no substantial proof to Samsung even pondering the idea of ...

Pre-ordered Galaxy Note 8 will come with nice bonuses

In two days, on August 23rd, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be officially revealed to the world. According to Evan Blass, phone will be available for preorder starting very next day, August 24th. Mr Blass also believes that the Galaxy Note 8 units pre-ordered will have a few nice freeby bonuses in the package. In his tweet from two days ago, Evan Blass states that those who preorder the device from the United States will be treated to a bonus of their choice; either a 360 camera (possibly a Samsung Gear 360 camera) or a wireless charger with a 256GB microSD card. European pre-orders will come ...

Galaxy Note 8 sales brochure leaks, confirms some information

Tick tock, tick tock. The official reveal of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is getting closer with every day. Even though we will learn all there is to know about that phone on August 23rd, it does not mean that leak-happy Samsung fans will not jump at every piece of news about their favourite upcoming phone. Newest leak, courtesy of Ausdroid website, is a bunch of pictures depicting Galaxy Note 8’s sales brochure. As far as leaks go, this one is pretty big; sales brochure is a solid source of information about any product. Here is what we can learn/confirm from reading them:– 6.3′ ...

Great Battery Recall, or ten thousand Galaxy Note 4 batteries recalled in the United States

This one hurts much less than the infamous Galaxy Note 7 recall, but it is still a dent in Samsung’s reputation. Some time ago, Samsung refurbished a large number of Galaxy Note 4 phones, which were then sold in the US via the FedEx Supply Chain. Unfortunately, some of these phones started to malfunction soon after being sold. Malfunctions included batteries overheating, causing danger of a meltdown or explosion. Upon inspection, it turned out that the batteries in these phones were counterfeit. Ouch… luckily, no major accident was reported so far. It is said that only a ...

Galaxy S5 survived a thousand feet drop unscathed

Phones are relatively sensitive devices. Allow one to slip from your hand and onto the cobblestones and it will break; throw it against the wall in a fit of anger (why did they cancel Regular Show!?!?) and it will break. If you were three hundred meters above ground and accidentally let your Samsung/Huawei/iPhone/ZTE drop all the way down, all you would get in return would be a few handfuls of bits and bolts and wiring to collect.Or would it?According to a story found on YouTube, one Blake Henderson was on a plane, where he was filming another plane (Inception?). Suddenly, Mr Henderson lost ...

Galaxy Note 8 gets a 179000 on AnTuTu score

The version tested on AnTuTu was one from the future U.S. release, equipped with Snapdragon 835 CPU and Adreno 540 GPU. Rest of the world will receive the Exynos 8895 CPU & Mali-G71 GPU version. Other elements of specification have been listed on the picture above. Those missing are the 6.3′ Super AMOLED screen and an 18:9 aspect ratio. So, how did U.S. Note 8 fare in the benchmark? Pretty well, actually! Smartphone scored a high 179 thousand points. In comparison, last year’s Galaxy S8 scored 205 thousand points. This score puts Note 8 in the upper tier of Samsung devices. ...
