iPhone 8 receives iOS 11 update, fixes the unresponsive screen issue
Apple has recently released iOS 11.3.1, an update to its operating system. Among the various fixes it provides, the arguably most important one is the iPhone 8 frozen screen one. You see, a few weeks ago iOS 11.3 introduced a bug to iPhone 8 thanks to which any iPhone 8 screen that was not an official Apple product (e.g a new screen from a third-party, put in to substitute a broken original one) would become unresponsive to touch. To nobody’s surprise, this turned out to be a software issue, likely put in place to prevent iPhone owners from using third-party services. Whether or not ...
Apple iPhone SE 2 might be released with no headphone jack
Rumours regarding SE 2 have been afloat for a while now, though the only thing that was relatively certain about the phone is that it will have a 4′ screen. Well, today we learn another thing about it. According to MacRumors, who interviewed a Chinese case maker Mac Otakara, iPhone SE2 will have no 3.5mm headphone jack. Too bad, I guess. Mac Otakara also believes that the device will be working on a A10 chip and that its rear will be protected by a Qi supported glass. Cool. Case makers are often a good source of info on the upcoming device, so there is little reason to not believe ...
Apple wants to buy its OLED panels from LG, but there is a problem
Most of Apple’s OLED panels supply comes from Samsung. It is natural that the fruity company wants to achieve at least partial independence from its supplier-competitor – if for no other reasons than to stop helping Samsung make money and allow it to partly control prices of Apple products. To that end Apple has recently hired LG to cover part of its OLED panel needs. Unfortunately for the big A, LG simply cannot keep up with their demands; the company is reporting issues with both raw material supplies as well as not enough production lines.Does this mean that Apple will ...
It looks like we will have a (relatively) cheap 6.1-inch iPhone soon
Apple is supposed to present us with three new iPhone devices on September 2018. One of them, a 6.1′ model, is supposed to be significantly cheaper than the rest of its kind. That will be so according to Mr Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple analytic for KGI Securities. He believes that the 6.1′ model will cost something between 550 and 650 dollars – a pretty low price when compared to, for example, $699 one has to cough up for a mere iPhone 8. Mr. Ming-Chi Kuo also believes that there will be a Dual SIM variant of the 6.1′ phone available, which will, of course, cost more; ...
Latest iOS causes issues in some iPhone units
Namely in those that have been, at any point in the past, repaired with third-party screens. The exact nature of the glitch is unknown; what we know is that the microchip of many of the 3rd party-repaired iPhones are suddenly not working anymore. The issue was first reported (at least in media) by Motherboard, who spoke about it with the CEO of an US iPhone repair shop. According to the CEO, the iOS 11.3 glitch has caused his company over two thousand reshipments by now. He also suggested that Apple is doing it on purpose in order to turn its customers away from 3rd party repair services. ...
Apple might officially announce its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED series today
Some believed this series to be announced during the Apple’s conference back in March, but as it turned out, we have to wait a bit longer. Not much longer, though. As reported by MacRumors, the leaks website has obtained – better not to ask how – from Virgin Mobile Apple’s documentation, according to which Virgin Mobile will today add a new Apple device to its roster. These devices can, but do not have to be the (PRODUCT)RED series. Whatever device it will be, it will enter pre-orders first. Also, Apple’s Air Power, a wireless charging mat will become available ...

Hooray, the newest iOS is out. iOS 11.3 has just been delivered to us, and it brings with itself a number of new features. You can now also decide whether or not your iOS should throttle your old battery’s performance, finally. This particular ...
Chinese Job, or how smartphone smuggling gang was caught trying to smuggle $80 million worth of iPhones
People trying to smuggle iPhones out of Hong-Kong (where these devices are much less expensive than in the rest of China) are nothing new; just lately a guy trying to smuggle $150 thousand worth of iPhones has been caught in an airport. Today’s news, however, is something a bit more impressive. Slightly before the holidays, as reported by Reuters:”Authorities arrested 26 suspects who used drones to fly two 200-meter (660-feet) cables between Hong Kong and the mainland to transport refurbished iPhones with a total value of 500 million yuan [in a] crackdown by Shenzhen and Hong ...
