Samsung reportedly reevaluating Android 4.0 ICS upgrade plans for Galaxy S, Tab

Last week, Samsung caused quite a ripple in the blogosphere when it announced that it would not be upgrading the original Galaxy S smartphone or the 7-inch Galaxy Tab to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich because of hardware constraints. Apple has won a legal case which, in theory, bans the sale of some HTC Android phones in the United States from April 2012.According to the International Trade Commission’s findings, the Taiwanese smartphone titan has infringed upon an Apple patent.The patent in question, US594667, relates to how the phone deals with an email or phone number. Nokia to Discontinue Contacts Back-Up Service

Nokia today said that it plans to shut down the Nokia Contacts web site on January 24, 2012. Nokia Contacts allowed users fo Symbian smartphones to sync their contact data with Nokia’s servers for safe keeping. Nokia says that the change won’t affect the contacts stored on user devices, but Nokia recommends that users who want to back their contacts up to a web service export them from Nokia Contacts and choose Hotmail, Microsoft Outlook 2010, Yahoo! ITC to Revisit HTC vs. Apple Decision

The U.S. International Trade Commission has decided to review a decision made by a judge in October that cleared Apple of violating four of HTC’s smartphone patents. The ITC is going to revisit one of the four patents, which pertains to “technology for looking up and quickly dialing phone numbers and different techniques for managing power consumption on portable electronic devices.” HTC appealed the October ruling and the ITC has agreed to reexamine the judge’s decision.
