Smartphone sales in China have reached levels from 2012

Ouch. The reason for such a massive drop is, of course, coronavirus; it is difficult to plan buying a new phone when you are unsure whether to go out today, your city is under quarantine or you yourself are being hospitalized. February 2020 has seen 6,34 million smartphones sold in China – smallest number since the aforementioned 2012. We do not have the data on all the popular brands, but it is known that Apple has sold barely half a million iPhones, around 0,77 million less than it did last year.

For the moment, the spread of coronavirus in China has been largely stopped, so we do not expect sales there to drop much lower. As for the rest of the world, we shall see.
