Xiaomi patents smartphone with low-placed notches, because why not?

At least they are original. Notches are a very popular feature but, as most popular ideas, there are many people who are against them. Anti-notchers argue that notches are intrusive and take up valuable space on the display. Xiaomi has taken notice of their voices and has just released a patent that might be an answer to the anti-notchers’ First World Problem. As shown on the above and other graphics, Xiaomi plans a smartphone with notches placed at the bottom of the display, either in the middle or in the bottom corners. According to people wiser than me, the former idea is more plausible. The reason for this is that camera modules take up more space inside the phone than is shown outside, and putting the cameras in the corners would reduce room available. Time will tell which version turns out to be real.
