Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to see the light of day by Q1 2019. Reports so far indicate that the device will come in three models codenamed Beyond 0, Beyond 1 and Beyond 2; probably a lite, normal and plus model. New report from a South Korean source claims though that there will be two variants of the Beyond 2 model. One of them will be equipped with a 5G connectivity. The reason for not putting it into a basic Beyond 2 model is reportedly its higher price. We do not know if that model will be released alongside the others or on a later ...

Leaked Nokia picture shows five rear cameras
ITHome has just released a picture of an unnamed Nokia device. The pic shows smartphone’s rear, where it has five camera lenses arranged in a circular pattern. The other two dots are a circular sensor and circular flash. The image does line up with what rumours we heard of HMD Global making a 5x camera smartphone. Tweet Vote on HN ...
iPhones and iPads now allow you to record Skype calls
If you ever wanted to record a conversation you had on Skype, now you can, as Skype is adding this feature to its macOS and iOS apps (but not to Windows 10. Hmm). Feature will notify the other party of the fact that the call is recorded. Both audio and video will be saved. Recorded calls will be saved in a cloud. Tweet Vote on HN ...
Details of Android September 2018 security patch unveiled
The contents of the patch include fixes for nine critical vulnerabilities, 18 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures items and dozens of high and moderate-risk vulnerabilities. Most severe of these vulnerabilities can allow a remote attacker to use a specifically crafted file to run arbitrary code on the device within the context of an application. Tweet Vote on HN ...
Samsung Galaxy S6 edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 will not receive monthly security updates anymore
Well that is sad: Samsung has officially confirmed that it will discontinue monthly security updates for the abovementioned devices. While sad, it is a standard policy for Samsung to stop updating (in other words, caring) about lesser/less successful devices after two to three years. Both of these smartphones will most probably receive any critical security updates whenever needed, but that is all. Tweet Vote on HN ...
Google is fighting child pornography
Google is working on artificial inteligence specialized in seeking out child pornography online. According to its creators, this AI increases the probability of finding that illegal (and disgusting) content in the Internet by an impressive 700%. Its performance is based on neural network, which (somehow) means that the number of people required to verify its decisions is minimal. Sounds a bit like Skynet, but I cannot disapprove of the tool used in such a cause. Google has given this AI to its business partners and on-governmental organizations for ...
Moto G5S Plus gets updated to Android 8.1 Oreo globally
Android 9 Pie may have been out for a month now, but you know how Android OS updates are – no two smartphones come with the same system. Anyhoo, Moto G5S Plus is at least getting updated to 8.1 Oreo. The update was supposed to take place two months ago, but has been postponed due to technical difficulties. Brazil is the first country to receive it, with others coming next in an unknown order. Exact number of changes is unknown, but will definitely include August security update. ...
South Korean release of LG G5 is being updated to Oreo
Many LG devices have had their OS’ updated to Oreo lately, and a South Korean LG G5 is next in line. Better late than never, I guess. Update brings with it a number of new features, such as background app optimization, notification channels and picture-in-picture mode. It is unknown whether or not the update will be available in the west (east, I guess?), but it probably will. Tweet Vote on HN ...
There is a hole in Android’s security. Every OS older than Pie is in danger
As reported by the Nightwatch Cybersecurity, there is a newly found hole in the security of every Android OS older than 9 Pie. This gap allows a potential hacker to learn your phone’s IP and MAC address, Wi-Fi and BSSID, giving them the possibility to, among other things, track your position and enter your Wi-Fi network. Google knows the issue and is working on fixing it, but so far only Android 9 Pie devices are safe. For everyone with older OS, be extra careful: no opening mails from Nigerian princes, no clicking on ads ...
