Some phones have to wait for the update (my last post on HTC U11), while some are getting it here and now. Starting today, October 23th, an OS upgrade is rolling out for every Xperia XZ Premium, updating the phone’s operating system to the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. Among the new features of the update are:

– tuning improvements to the front-facing speakers,
– aptX HD audio support,
– 3D Creator, Sony’s new 3D scanning feature,
– Autofocus Burst and Predictive Capture camera features. The former is used for capturing pictures of moving, blurred objects, while the other takes picture immediately upon detecting the subject of the pic smiling (fancy).

The update is not available worldwide at once, but will cover the whole globe over the course of two weeks. Just check your phone every now and then and you will receive it eventually. Tah tah.
