Smuggler drone, or how to deliver prison contraband with a mini-flier

I am sure you have seen at least a few movies about prison life. Do you remember contraband scenes? Items smuggled in transport cars, delivered to receivers by book or laundry wagons, handed from inmate to inmate until they reach the right hand. Well, I hope you will remember these pictures, because times of contrabanda being done that way seem to be over…

21st century sees a drastic increase in science and technology. Some of that tech angers us, some of it helps us. This particular way of using it can be counted as… both? Government of Great Britain noticed an increase in prison contraband perpetuated by drones. People are just coming up to prison walls with drones and their package, tie one to the other and send the mini-fliers across the walls or up to windows. UK’s government plans to counter these illegal dealings by creating special (as opposed to what, average>) police unit. Unit’s task will be of an intelligence kind – instead of hunting and shooting down the drones, which every prison guard can do, they will research the delivery lines and pick-up points in an attempt to uncover the (probably already existing) drone contraband net.

Drone contraband is not a completely new phenomenon on the islands. Last year, three men were charged and sentenced up to four years in prison for illegally delivering illegal items (hm, there must be a better way to put that) to inmates.
