Have I got your attention? Clarification – the guy was alive when his iPhone gave him a burn, and he is still alive. No one has died. Okay? Okay. Luke Schillab, USA, was unlucky enough to jump into the swimming pool with his iPhone 6 in pocket. The phone, of course, died. When Schillab realised what happened, he tried an old home remedy of putting the wet phone into the bag of rice, counting on the rice to absorb the water. When a few hours passed and the phone was still not responding, Schillab gave up. He put the phone on the bed (as later stated, he did it by a force of habit) and went sleep himself. He did not get a good night’s rest, though, as soon he was jumping out of bed with a fierce burn on his torso. As it turned out, his phone’s temperature has increased dramatically, causing a second degree burn. Damp with water, his iPhone 6’s battery malfunctioned and began to produce a large amount of heat.

What’s the moral of this story? First, rice won’t dry off your smartphone, so stop doing that. Second, if you think that your phone, and in particular it’s battery, is damaged, do NOT put it where it can cause harm. Remember Galaxy Note 7.
