Xiaomi defends against claims of loading adware on its devices.

The popularity of Xiaomi devices have significantly grew in the last few years, and with it did the controversy around the company. Xiaomi has already had to defend against several accusations of deliberately putting adware and spyware software in its devices. This time it is Thijs Broenink, a computer science student from Netherlands, who claims that he found pre-loaded adware on Xiaomi’s phone. According to Broenink, the “AnalyticsCore.apk” aplication allows Xiaomi to upload and install any app on the user’s smartphone without the user’s knowledge. Even when ...

Sgnl smart strap – you don’t need a phone if you have a finger.

Sgnl smart strap is a Kickstarter project that may, if not revolutionize the communication industry, then at least make it look more sci-fi-like. In short, Sgnl smart strap is a watch strap connected to Bluetooth. When the strap receives a signal, it generates a voice-transmitting vibration that runs up to the user’s fingertip. When the user places his fingertip in his ear, echoes amplify the sound within it. Sgnl will run on lithium polymer battery that supports up to 500 recharges, and needs to be recharged once per week. It will be possible to make outgoing calls with it, too ...

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 – the fight for sales goes on.

Samsung tries yet another way of dealing with their flawed, battery-burning release of Galaxy Note 7. Phone’s users – only those living in South Korea for the moment – have received an update for their phones that limits their battery capacity to 60%. Right now it’s difficult to say whether it Samsung did it because the company cares about Note 7 user’s safety, or is it an attempt to lure their clients into the shops once more. Whatever the truth is, doing it on a global scale may prove impossible for Samsung. Unlike Apple or Microsoft OS, whose parent ...

LG V20, the first phone to use Google’s new Search app.

In Apps, Google’s new search device, allows the user to search for needed information not only between the built-in applications, like a mailbox, saved messages or photos, but also among the user-downloaded apps. In Apps allows the user to search for the last apps used, last people contacted or last messages received without typing in any kind of query. In Apps works well with V20’s Second Screen – user can search for what he needs using In Apps on his or her Second Screen while, for example, watching a video on the main screen. Putting In Apps aside, LG V20 will be the ...

Google’s next Nexus device may be made by Huawei.

Or so does the rumour say. Looking at Huawei’s earlier works, we know they can create devices that are modern, like Huawei P8 and full with content and, yet, cheap, like Honor 7 (and, sometimes, a bub, like Nexus 6). If the rumour is true, Huawei has the chance to expand in the United States, where, as it is, the company is barely known. There is yet another rumour circling about, saying that Google wants to shit out two Nexus devices this year, one by Huawei and anothe one by ...

Smartwatches? Not interested.

Judging by the small number of sales, smartwatches were never an object of particular interest for the consumers, even though the producers kept on releasing new models. Now, it looks like at least some of the companies have decided to drop out from this particular race; namely, LG, Huawei and Motorola, who will not release any new smartwatches this year. Unless something change, this will leave Samsung and Apple as the only major contesters in the waning field of smartwatches. Tweet Vote on ...

A troubled company – another of Samsung’s cellphones explodes.

A while ago I wrote about problems that the korean company Samsung has with its extremely flawed release of Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Now I return to this topic, since it’s possible that Samsung’s problems are far from over… users of Galaxy Note 7 can, and should, return their phones and, in return, receive either Samsung Galayy J as a temporary replacement or, after paying the difference in cost, Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. Unfortunately, one Daniel Ramirez, owner of Galaxy S7 Edge, has recently sued Samsung. Why? Remirez’s phone, which he kept in his pocket, exploded, ...
