Verizon Updates BlackBerry 9930 Bold, 9850 Torch

Verizon Wireless has made operating system updates available to both the Research In Motion BlackBerry 9930 Bold and 9850 Torch. Both are being updated to OS version 7.0.0.374 and include extensive change logs. Both devices see numerous bug fixes and performance enhancements (touch screen and trackpad responsiveness, etc). Motorola Photon 4G Updated with Google Video Chat

Motorola and Sprint are rolling out a system update to the Motorola Photon 4G. Chief among the changes is support for Google Talk with video chat. Photon 4G owners will be able to conduct live, two-way video chats with other Google Talk contacts once the update is installed. HTC Hero S Designed For Sprint

The US version of HTC’s Hero S – just released for US Cellular – contains hardware supporting Sprint’s unique network, including WiMAX, and CDMA in the ESMR (old iDEN) band, according to the FCC approval documents for the phone. Much like the Motorola Electrify for US Cellular is essentially the Photon with WiMAX disabled, HTC has done the same for the Hero S. The FCC has approved a version of the Hero S for Sprint with WiMAX, and a distinct variant for US Cellular that FCC documents describe as having WiMAX “operation disabled by software change only.” ...

Sony Ericsson said that it is going to shift its entire cellular phone business to smartphones only starting in 2012. According to Sony Ericsson, smartphones already account for 80% of its sales and its Android phones account for 12% of all worldwide Android sales. Nokia has recently renamed its Ovi Suite desktop software and is now offering a new version of it called Nokia Suite Beta 3.2.
