Samsung DoubleTime

The DoubleTime is an entry-level clamshell Android phone aimed at converting the quick-messaging device crowd to smartphone users. The DoubleTime is a form factor we haven’t seen on an Android smartphone in a while — it’s a clamshell flip with a full QWERTY keyboard. The DoubleTime is definitely an entry-level smartphone. The materials were the lowest quality of all the devices we saw this evening. The white plastic alone says “low-end” to me. It reminds me a bit of the character EVE from WALL*E, but not nearly as attractive or shapely as EVE ...

Samsung Captivate Glide

The Captivate Glide from Samsung adds a slide-out QWERTY keyboard to the familiar look of Samsung’s Galaxy phones. It has the same rectangular loo, the same slippery plastics, and about the same footprint when held in the hand. It feels light — and cheap — in the hand, but isn’t egregiously thick. The materials used in Samsung’s Galaxy class devices continue to leave me ...

It is plain looking, made of simpler plastics, and doesn’t come off feeling like a high-end handset — it doesn’t feel cheap, either. Despite the thickness, it has a nice texture to the outer ...

Find out why.We had the opportunity to spend some time with the Motorola Admiral, a bar-style Android phone that has a touch screen and QWERTY keyboard on the front. This is a nice phone. It isn’t the thinnest or sexiest looking handset ever, but it’s looks are good enough and its very functional. The materials aren’t top-of-the-line, but they have a touch — almost rugged — feel to them that lends an air of confidence to the ...
