RIM to give developers BlackBerry 10 prototypes at upcoming event

RIM has announced that it plans to provide developers that attend an upcoming event with BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha devices. The devices are pre-production prototypes that run a modified version of the PlayBook OS. They are supposed to help developers prepare their apps for the upcoming BlackBerry 10 smartphones. Microsoft, Nokia to put $24 million into app development for Windows Phone

Nokia and Microsoft have announced that each company will invest 9 million EUR (US$12 million) into a mobile application development program at Aalto University in Finland over the next three years. The new AppCampus program will focus on creating mobile apps for the Windows Phone ecosystem, but it will also produce apps for Nokia’s S40 and Symbian-based phones. Students enrolled will be coached on commercialization of their ideas, and they will retain all of the intellectual property rights for the apps that they develop within AppCampus. Samsung Says Android 4.0 Headed to Note in Q2

Samsung today announced that it will be distributing a large “Premium Suite” system update to the Galaxy Note during the second quarter that includes Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and other new features. The update will add a number of new S Pen-optimized apps to the Note, including Shape Match and Formula Match, which help correct and digitize geometric shapes and numeric formulas.
