Big news in big business: 2-year and $9 bilion contract for OLED iPhone display panels signed between Apple and Samsung

Unless various sources are wrong, two mobile giants, Apple and Samsung, have just sealed a large deal. Apple has contracted Samsung to ship 70 to 92 million screen panels in 2017, and presumably an even larger number next year. Increase in production will require Samsung to pay $9 bilion to expand its OLED panels production.Apple and Samsung are rivals, at least when it comes to smartphones (a large consumer of OLED panels). It is interesting to see these two working together, or at least one working for another. What do you think? Is it just business, or are there some ulterior motives in ...

Stronger versions of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are coming, though not to the US

Samsung has just revealed that their latest (and, arguably, greatest) Galaxy S8 and S8+ will have an even better versions of themselves coming out soon. Both devices are supposed to get 6 instead of 4 gigabytes of RAM, as well as 128GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage instead of 64GB. According to Samsung though, these will not be released in U.S. (why, I do not know). If you were American, I wouldn’t worry. Even the ”normal” Galaxy S8/S8+ is a beautiful monster that has more processing power and memory than anyone needs it ...

Production of Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus increases as interest in the phone rises

Looks like Samsung’s newest largest phone is just as popular as its regular sibling. According to a report from South Korea, Galaxy S8+ is seeing a 5% increase in production after retailers show an increased interest in obtaining large numbers of the phone. In layman terms, more people than expected want to buy Galaxy S8+. Samsung certainly cannot complain, since the increased interest means more money in the company’s pocket – Samsung forecasts a record breaking 2nd quarter for ...

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus with 6GB RAM will only be available in China? Good news. It is damn expensive anyway

According to Etnews, a Korean news website, 1,155,000 krw, or around $1026, is how much Chinese Samsung lovers have to pay if they want to get themselves a shiny, new, 6GB RAM-packing Galaxy S8. China’s Galaxy S8 will also have increased memory space, 128GB instead of 64GB. Curiously, the only colour version available there (at least so far) is Midnight Black. Why? I dunno. Chinese pre-orders of the phone will come with the addition of Samsung DeX dock instead; Western pre-orders, as we know, are adding a free Gear VR instead.6GB of RAM on a smartphone is, well, debatable. Do you ...

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus do not natively support Google Daydream

Oh noes? New Samsung flagships are strong enough to be able to use Google Daydream VR, but they seemingly lack the neccessary software. The reason for this may be that Samsung has its own VR gear to sell, like Gear VR – still, Google fans will be left disappointed… or maybe not! If you want to use your Google Daydream with a Galaxy S8 or S8+, all you have to do is change one line of code. Courtesy of VRheads, you can read about how to do it right here. Tweet Vote on ...

Galaxy 8’s facial recognition lock not as hard to break as it seems?

Samsung Galaxy S8 has a number of protective measures. The phone can be unlocked via a password, sequence, fingerprint scanner or facial recognition. It isn’t news that the phone’s fingerprint scanner does not work all that great – if previous leaks are to believed, it is why the phone has a facial recognition in the first place. Now, a YouTube user nicknamed MarcianoPhone is proving (though perhaps not beyond any doubt) that S8’s facial recognition is flawed as well.MarcianoPhone has uploaded a video in which he unlocks the phone using its facial recognition ...

Samsung Galaxy S8 „Microsoft Edition”. Yeah, much Windows, so Microsoft

Waaah, Samsung with Windows OS, what to do, what to do, waaaah, panic… no, nothing like that. It is just that Windows has seemingly decided that, if its phones do not sell very well, it will try to cash in on Galaxy S8’s success. This cooperation seems to be half-hearted at best, though, as its only result is Microsoft Edition, which is a completely normal Galaxy S8 with few Windows features: Cortana assistant (as if Samsung didn’t already have Bixby), OneDrive and Office. Most of those things you can already get on Play store ...
