And the first January 2018 security update goes to Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016)

It is a bit strange that Samsung delivered its newest update so far for a low-end tablet first, but perhaps there is method in this madness. I do not know. What I know is that Galaxy Tab A (2016) in Bangladesh has just received firmware version T285DDU0AQL3. Details of the update are unknown, as is the date of its release in other countries; it should take between one and two months. Tweet Vote on HN ...

New picture of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus

Newest leaked picture has been dug out by the Androidandme website and then promptly put on Weibo. It depicts both devices’, Galaxy S9 and S9+, back covers. Phones in the picture seem to line up with what we already know/expect about Samsung’s new Galaxy; of course, these are unofficial pictures, so they may as well be fake.We will learn whether or not this is how Galaxy S9 / S9+ looks like at February’s Mobile World Congress 2018. Samsung acknowledged the Galaxy Note 8 battery issue…

… and states that only a very small number of devices is affected. Last year I wrote a little article about some Galaxy Note 8 units having a nasty issue where their batteries went to 0% and did not work afterwards, even when fully charged. Well, reports of that problem have first surfaced in late December and it took Samsung until yesterday to officially acknowledge and address it. According to PCWelt, Samsung’s response is ”Samsung is taking all reports of this kind seriously, we only received a very small number of customer inquiries that could be linked to charge ...

Dex Pad – Samsung copyrights the name of their new docking station

Station is prepared with Galaxy S9 and S9+ in mind. Copyright encompasses the whole European Union region, which probably means two things – that the device will be available in every EU country and that the station may be called by another name in the far West and East. We do not know about the docking station itself; it is said to allow the phone to lie flat instead of standing up, and also to act as a keyboard and touch pad. As for its release, it is assumed to take place along with the Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones, during the MWC ...

Samsung Galaxy A5, A7 (2017) updated with new camera features

Nice to see Samsung updating its older-ish phones right away instead of having them – and their owners – wait for large OS updates. So, what are the new features that Samsung cooked up for these phones’ owners?– Selfie focus mode for the front camera, said to work well as long as the lighting is sufficient,– either November or December security patch, depending on your region,– color correction option for the skin tone in the front camera. As always, you can download the update manually, just go to Software update menu and tap the Download updates manually ...

December security patch released for Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017)

Phew, finally I can write about something small and neutral… Galaxy A7 (2017) has just released its newest security patch, updating this year’s mid-ranger with latest security software and patches. Update is already out in Mexico, where it has firmware version A720FXXU2BQL9. IF you want to make sure that it is available for you too, go to Software update menu and select the Download updates manually option – but do not be surprised if you will have to wait a day or a ...

Samsung also does not slow down its phones like Apple does. Honest

Pretty much same case as with yesterday’s news of about Motorola and HTC doing the same thing. Samsung has released an official statement in which it promises that it is not downgrading its products’ lifetime in order to get more sales.”Product quality has been and will always be Samsung Mobile’s top priority. We ensure extended battery life of Samsung mobile devices through multi-layer safety measures, which include software algorithms that govern the battery charging current and charging duration. We do not reduce CPU performance through software updates over the ...

Yaay, Samsung Note 8 has a battery issue!

SamMobile has recently compiled an increasingly growing number of online posts regarding Galaxy Note 8’s newest battery problem. The issue seems to be this: some of the Galaxy Note 8 smartphone units do not turn back on after their battery capacity was completely spent. In other words, if their power reached 0%, they do not turn back on, even after being powered back to 100%. Majority of Note 8 owners do not seem to have this issue, but the number of people who do seem to be growing. Ouchies. Naturally, Samsung will replace any faulty unit of the phone as long as it is under warranty, ...
