LG Takes Another Shot with the Optimus 3D MAX

LG today announced the Optimus 3D MAX, an apparent update to last-year’s Optimus 3D. The 3D MAX features 2D and 3D image/video capture and playback with twin 5-megapixel main cameras and a 3D display. LG says it can convert Maps and other items into 3D for a more immersive experience. It also has a VGA user-facing camera for video chats. LG Reveals Optimus 4X HD with Tegra 3

LG today announced the Optimus 4X HD, the first phone with the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The phone sports Android 4.0, a 8.9mm-thick body, and a 4.7-inch true HD IPS LCD, like the Nitro, but slightly larger. The Tegra 3 chip in the Optimus 4X clocks in at 1.5 GHz and includes a fifth processor that handles simple, low-power tasks such as phone calls, music playback, and email notification, enabling the main four cores to power down when the screen is off or locked, conserving battery life. LG Announces Optimus Vu with 5-Inch Display

LG today revealed the Optimus Vu, a new Android phone that boasts a five-inch, in-plane switching display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and 1024 x 768 pixels. The device will include a stylus, similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Note. LG Grants NFC Powers to the Optimus LTE Tag

LG today announced the Optimus LTE Tag, a new Android phone that incorporates near-field communications and ships with NFC-based tags that can activate certain phone functions. LG explains that the tags can be placed in different areas, such as an office, car, or home, and when the phone is touched to them it can be set to switch to silent mode, to activate Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, to turn up the volume, and other actions. FCC Outs LG Connect 4G Variant for Verizon

Documents on the Federal Communication Commission’s web site reveal that the LG Connect, announced for MetroPCS during the CES trade show earlier this month, is also headed to Verizon Wireless’s network. The LG VS-840, which was recently approved by the FCC, supports CDMA 850/1900MHz and LTE 750MHz, which is unique to Verizon. The FCC also confirms that the VS-840 supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Microsoft today announced that LG has signed a patent licensing agreement covering Android products. Microsoft holds a variety of patents that it claims Android infringes on.
