Motorola Explains Hardware to Blame for Upgrade Delays

Motorola executive Christy Wyatt said that it’s not the company’s software customizations that delay system updates, rather, it’s the hardware. HTC Details Android 4.0 Roll-Out Plans

HTC today provided more details via its Facebook page on when it will update its existing smartphones to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The first batch includes the Sensation, Sensation 4G and Sensation XE by the end of March, with the Sensation XL soon after. Motorola’s 3G Patent Suit Against Apple Dismissed in Germany

The Mannheim Regional Court today dismissed a lawsuit filed by Motorola against Apple concerning what Motorola called a standards essential 3G/UMTS patent. The patent in question covered the “method and system for generating a complex pseudonoise sequence for processing a code division multiple access [CDMA] signal.” The judge overseeing the lawsuit said that Motorola did not effectively argue its case, and ruled that Apple is not infringing on the patent. Apple has filed a new patent-related lawsuit against Samsung, this time in San Jose, Calif. Apple Dings Motorola Over Qualcomm Agreement

Apple has filed a new lawsuit against Motorola over a patent license agreement that exists between Motorola and Qualcomm. Specifically, Apple argues that since it is now a Qualcomm customer, it is a “third-party beneficiary of Motorola’s agreement with Qualcomm,” meaning that Motorola can’t sue it for patents it is licensing from Qualcomm.
