Yep, you heard me. It seems that the PR nightmare of Galaxy Note 7 was not as nightmarish as many thought it to be. After the initial distrust, people are forgetting and/or forgiving Samsung, certainly thanks to the fair way the company treated its customers when the Note 7 fiasco hit the fan. To be on the safe side, Samsung is now taking the precaution of sourcing its batteries from a new supplier; reportedly, the company will bring in an OEM LG to produce its batteries. Samsung Galaxy S6 catches fire on somebody’s nightstand. Yawn
Honestly, if it wasn’t expected of me, I wouldn’t write about phones blowing up anymore. A Reddit user with a fancy nickname ReturnThroughAether posted a picture of his Galaxy S6 all charred. According to his/her story, phone must have burned during the night, and quietly too, since it did not even wake “ReturnThroughAether” up. User reported that she/he talked to Samsung, but have not said if any kind of compensation will be issued. Prior to the incident, the phone worked perfectly fine.Sim-unlock.net is a system that offers unlocking sim locks of any phone model. ...
A mysterious big “for U” thing coming on January 12
What might it be? Some like to believe that it is HTC 11, but it is too early for the smartphone that was expected to be revealed at February’s MWC. Others are confident that the curved U hints at a curved screen device, whether be it smartphone or smartwatch. According to some, the U in the secretive advert is hinting at an Under Armour branded wearable device (HTC used to work together with the UA). Or maybe it is a new VR thing? Whatever it is, we will know soon – January 12 is just around the corner.Sim-unlock.net is a system that offers unlocking sim locks of any phone ...

“Kissenger” – an over-distance smooching mod for your smartphone
Already a couple years in development, Kissenger is a smartphone mod that allows a couple – or two strangers, if that is what you are into – to kiss through the Internet. The device is a colourful holster for your smartphone with a plastic pad attached to its bottom. As you put your lips on the pad, the device transmits the sensation to the pad installed on your partner’s mobile device (is it just me or does “your partner’s mobile device’ sound dirty). Mod works in cooperation with a Kissenger app that features videocalling, so you can see your ...
South Korean owners stick to the Note 7’s, so Samsung will delay disabling the device there
An anonymous source told the Korean Herald newspaper that “There will be strong opposition from consumers if Samsung disables the devices soon. The company may have to wait until the return rate reaches 95 percent,” Samsung’s hesitancy to kill the phone off on its home turf (like it did in New Zealand and will do in the US, among other countries) may be caused by the owner’s “zealotry” – around 15% of Note 7 owners still keep their phones instead of returning/exchanging them. I guess some people value a good, if dangerous, phone higher than their ...

A bit of info on a new Nokia phone leaks
Good old Weibo provided me with writing material yet again. This time, the notorious leakster website has brought us pictures and specification info on the Nokia prototype in the works. The so-called Nokia P is supposed to be a flagship device sporting a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB RAM, QuadHD display and a 23 MP main camera. This does indeed sound flagship-ish, which, when connected with the words of HMD (a company that licences Nokia’s brand) that they will “take it slow” and start out with lesser phones, makes us believe that the mysterious phone will not be published ...
