Netflix is already considered the most expensive of the mainstream streaming services in Australia, but that does not stop it from reaching deeper into the Aussies’ pockets. Its premium subscription plan has just gone from $17.99 a month to $19.99. Current premium customers will see the change with the next payment, while new or returning customers will notice it immediately. The rise in the premium sub fee is not followed by any noticeable increase in the service’s quality:
”We change our prices from time to time and continue to invest heavily to grow in the depth and breadth of our content such as new shows like The Politician, Unbelievable, well-loved series like Stranger Things, The Good Place and The Crown, as well as improvements to our product” – Netflix
Seeing how Disney+ is rolling out next month, and its normal sub fee is $8.99 a month (Netflix’ is $9.99 and $13.99 for basic and standard plans), well, it might be that Netflix Australia has jut shot itself in the foot.
