It seems so. According to the message on HTC’s Weibo account, the TMall and Jingdong Chinese online stores are no longer selling that company’s smartphones. HTC devices can still be bought via either HTC’s online store or the physical one in Shenzhen, but supplies seem to be running dry as some of their newest phones are listed as Out of Stock.
What might be the reason behind this disappearance? No one knows for sure. The official spiel of HTC is one of long-term business strategy for China, and that can mean anything. Some people believe that HTC needs to drastically cut down its infrastructure due to financial issues, and decided that China is the first market to go. It makes sense, seeing as the company has been through a rough patch for the last few years.
